Sirius fell to the floor landing a little less gracefully than he would have liked and he spun, brandishing his wand toward the intruder. The man was clad in a heavy robe that looked curiously like that of a Death Eater, but not quite. Sirius became incensed having recognized it instantly...it had once belonged to his father, Orion. He searched number 12 Grimmauld place everyday for three weeks for it; he realized that it was indeed missing and assumed that his father had been buried in it.
He looked to his girls and saw that while Hermione was frightened, her wand brandished, Ally wasn't; in fact, she was smiling warmly.
And that confused him.
"Who the hell are you," Sirius said through gritted teeth as he held his wand at the man's throat; the man was about two inches taller than him and he looked up into his face.
The man opened his eyes and looked down into Sirius' eyes and his mouth curled into a lop-sided grin. "Don't you believe your own eyes, Sirius?"
Sirius felt his blood rush to his feet and he backed away. "No," he whispered as he backed away. "No way."
"Hmm. Well, I suppose since I'm taller than you are, that makes you my little brother now, aye! Never thought I'd live to see the day!"
Sirius' eyes slitted and he rushed the man, his wand pushing hard onto the man's throat. "My brother's dead."
"I must confess Siri, that the rumor of my demise has been greatly exaggerated. Isn't that what the muggles say? Anyway, suffice to say, I am indeed alive and well!" His eyes looked toward Hermione's and he saw them open wide. "Thank you very much, by the way, Hermione, for taking such good care of me!" He looked toward Ally. "Allison, I believe you got prettier. I didn't think it was possible!" He looked toward Remus and he nodded. "Hello, Moony..." And then to Harry. "Har-ry Pot-ter..." He looked into Sirius' eyes. "He really does look like his father, doesn't he? Makes me very happy that he doesn't act like him..."
"Show me," Sirius growled.
"Show you, what?"
"Your mark."
"For Merlin's sake, Siri! Are you an animagus or not! Use your bleedin' nose!"
"Your mark..." Sirius pressed his wand in a little harder causing Regulus to wince with pain.
"I had it removed," he said quickly. "I do have a scar though. Does that count for anything?"
Sirius shook his head. "Impossible! The Dark Mark cannot be removed!"
Regulus shook his head. "Actually, it can. Hurt like a mother, though, I must say!"
"Show me, damn it!"
Regulus huffed a sigh and placed his wand between his teeth, causing Sirius to gasp with hope and Ally to laugh through her tears; it was a bad habit of his; he didn't have many, so it stuck out like a sore thumb. Sirius watched his hands as he pulled up at the sleeves of the robe and he saw Regulus' signet ring and noticed that he had one on each hand. Regulus held out his slightly disfigured forearm. "Alright," he said, the wand still in his teeth.
"Where did you get those robes?"
He scoffed, with the wand still between his teeth...he figured that his brother was hoping that it was really him, or he would have certainly dispatched him by now. "Did Azkaban rob you of your memory, Siri? They belonged to Dad! I needed something with loads of pockets, didn't I?" He lowered his sleeve, since Sirius hadn't looked at his arm anyway. "Oh, that reminds me, I have a few things of yours. I reckon that you'd like to have them back?"
