Hermione placed the second helping of scrambled eggs on Harry's plate and watched as he inhaled them. "These are amazing, 'Mione," he said with his mouth full. Sirius agreed with a nod of his head as he helped himself to extra bacon. Remus merely chuckled silently.
"Remus, you're getting fat," Sirius said.
"Oh, he is not," Hermine replied. "Don't listen to him, Rem."
Remus chuckled again and shook his head. "Don't worry, I won't."
"Oh, Sirius got a letter today from an old flame..."
Sirius rolled his eyes and let his shoulders fall. "Darling, honestly?"
Remus looked up from his plate, hearing the tension in his best friend's voice. "You don't have to share, Pads," he said.
"Oh, but this is something I think you'll want to hear," she said and then looked to her right, into Sirius' eyes, which were practically on fire. "No? Fine. I'll tell, then," she said.'
He grabbed onto Hermione's hand, not hard enough to hurt her, but tightly enough that she knew that he meant business. "Got a letter from Ally this morning," he said; he thought that it might be best if he were in control of the conversation...
Remus' face lit up. "Oh! And how is she doing!"
Sirius shrugged his shoulders. "Dunno? She wrote to congratulate me on my new-found freedom is all."
Remus nodded. "Oh, that's lovely! It's all over the papers last night and this morning!" He then turned to Harry. "Ally was a very good friend of your Dad's, Harry. They were like twins on the pitch, they really were!" He laughed and pointed his thumb to Sirius. "Then, your Dad introduced this one to her..."
"Oh yeah? So what happened...sounds like there's a story there..."
Hermione rested her chin in her hand as she gazed toward Remus. "Yes, what happened?"
"Fireworks and shrapnel."
Hermione's face scrunched as she shook her head. "Sorry?"
"They fought. A lot."
Hermione raised her brow and eyed her husband. "Oh?"
Sirius wore the ghost of a smile on his face. He looked into her eyes from the corner of his.
Remus washed down his toast with his coffee. "Alright you two, what's going on?"
Hermione sat straight up in her chair and then leaned on her elbows. "Well, lets just say that I can finish school and attend uni without any issues." She smiled sweetly. "Isn't that right, Darling?"
Sirius' face was blank for a moment as he processed her words. He looked into her eyes. "You're right Sunshine, you can!" Then he beamed with happiness for her.
She nodded. "Mmhmm..."
"Nooooo," Remus said as he pointed into the air. "The Family's Laws state very clearly, that an heir needs to be born within the first year of marriage."
"And she has. Apparently."
Both Hermione and Sirius watched the confused-air cloud the Academic's face. "Wot?"
"She. Has. Been. Born. To Allison, no less," Hermione said shortly.
"You know," Harry began as he swallowed his toast with a gulp. "If I didn't know you better 'Mione, I'd think that you were jealous."
Hermione sneered. "Oh, tosh!"
"Uh huh." He finished his toast. "And my name's not Harry James Potter." He swallowed the toast with a large gulp of his coffee and sat the cup down, rather harshly.
