Last time on 'Not The One'...

"Oh, hey boys, ready for another lead as always. Sorry about that, she's just a little emotional at the moment." He says, hoping we didn't hear anything, to which we try to hide that we did by just nodding. I wonder why (Y/N) wanted to leave, and to do what?

Edward's POV

Al and I stare at Roy for a couple of seconds, standing there with an awkward atmosphere surrounding us. I finally break the silence.

"So, what was that all about? (Y/N) seemed pretty upset after that." I ask with a confused tone. Mustang looks between Alphonse and I before sighing and closing his eyes with disappointment.

"Sorry boys but I can't tell you, it isn't my place to say." He sounded genuinely sad which is unusual because he is normally a tough cookie when it came to emotions. He ended up looking back at us. "So what did you to come up here for in the first place for again?"

By then I had almost forgotten why we had actually come up here but then it came back.

"We were supposed to report to you this morning. Did you find a new lead?" I ask, trying to destract from what we'd just whitnessed. He sighed and walked back into his office, with us trailing behind. He sat down in his chair with his elbows on the desk surrounded with brown files and pieces of paperwork.

"No, unfortuatly not. With all the recent occuring deaths with state alchemists, it has consumed majority of my time. In addition with the deaths, we don't know anything about the suspect. Which is why I have made the rational decision on keeping you here in Central until we know who this serial killer is, find why he's targeting state alchemists and bring him in."

Al and I looked shocked.

"What, you mean, someone is killing state alchemists here in central and you're keeping us here where this person is?" Al's voice echoed from the empty metal suit with a sound of destress.

"We're not just keeping you here, your whereabouts are going to be kept confidential at all times within the next upcoming weeks. So no phone calls to anyone, no going into public spaces and making a scene of yourself becuase that just might be what gets you killed." Roy explained. He had a point and even if we didn't agree it was his decision. I sigh and look to Al.

"Looks like we're gonna be hitting the books more than usual." I say sarcasticly. Al and I focus back to Roy as we realise  he's drifted off into space. "Hey Roy." No answer, "FLAME HEAD!" I scream in his face. He came back and looked at them before putting his head in his hands.

Al and I looked at eachother confused.

"Sorry boys. I was just thinking about something important. Now if you exscuse me, I need to find someone." He said before twisting the door handle. Just as he opened the door I interupted him.

"It's (Y/N). Isn't it?" I said softly and sencierly. He continued to stare at his hand that lay on the doornob. He knew there was no point in lying. He confessed.

"Yes, I am. She's been acting a little unusual lately and it's causeing a bit of concern between her Father and members of the military here." He spoke sofly and sencierly. "She's been more emotional and I'm afraid we're going to loose her again."

That made me question. "What do you mean again?" I asked fermly, trying to get some backstory.  He looked at me like a bird watching it's prey.

"Ugh" He groaned. "When she was younger, she was taken in by Hughes, as you know. However, the legal process to get her was tough. During the time where she wasn't allowed to see him, she would stay with me. One night, she got so upset and at midnight, snuck out and went to Maes house while I was asleep. I woke up to an absolutely freezing appartment, only to find she wasn't there. I started panicing because I also see her a my niece and she views me as an uncle. Seeing her disapear just like that was horrible and I just don't want her to leave again. I know she's scared of her p-" He was cut off with the doors slamming open and him jumping out of his skin.

"Sir! I have some distressing news!" Riza was at the door, out of breath and her voice dripping with shock and distress.

"What has happened" Mustang questioned.

"(Y/N)," She began. "They've gone."

We stood there in consternation.

"What do you mean they've gone." He said, rage and heartache.

"She left a note." She held up the small folded piece of paper, only to be snached out of her grasp. He grazed over the note, eyes wide and full of grief. He looked up and started shouting out orders to his subordinates to get ready to head out on a search party.

"Elrics, you're with me." His voice was stern. We nod in agreeance and we started out search for (Y/N).

~

We'd been searching for hours and no hope. Roy had split from us about an hour ago. The sun was starting to set and we hadn't had one lead of them.  I was becoming worried. What if something had happened to them? What if she got kidnapped and never seen again? What if she did flee away from the capital? All for what? What was she so afraid of? After no hope for ages, Al spotted something odd.

"Hey, Ed. Are you hearing that?" Al said breaking the silence.

I looked at him crazily. "What are you talking abo-" I  stopped. A  large rumbling sound came from about 2 blocks away, followed with some screaming. Al and I picked up the pace and rished to where we heard the noice. Rubble and blood stains, everywhere. A fight must have gone down here, but where are the culprets. We followed the blood that was trailed along the wall until it came to a corner and we had to look round. I took a peak of what was happening and something shocked me.

There was (Y/N), unconsious. Her head in the palm of a muscular taned tone man, his back was facing us. He began to speak.

"You try protecting the people who desieve the work of God, why. Folish child, now you shall pay for letting my next sacrifice get away." He growled. I had to stop him.

"Not if I have anything to do with that!" I sream at him, his head swifly turns and faces us.

"You two, who are you?" He asks.

"I'm the fullmetal Alchemist and I'm about to make your life a living hell." I roared and charged at him, glapping my hands and changing my arm into its usual blade. Al had already started hand to hand combat when he suddenly had his automail left side of his chest and left arm smashed.

I screamed "AL!" I was enraged. I

"I'm ok" He spoke flustered and shakely.

I ran speedily at him creaming as his hand began to glow. I was about to punch him when all of a sudden, he had my automail in his grasp, the light around his hand got brighter until my arm shattered into pieces and flung me to the floor.

"EDD!!!"
