Chapter 3
Alexa POV
It's been three days. I figured I would need a job soon, but first needed to find a school. This morning I woke up with a major headache and decided to do a thing that always helps me when I'm stressed.
I danced.
When I was discovering the house a bit more I found a basement. I thought that would be a good place to dance.
I walked down to the basement and brought my DVD player. I put the song Talk Dirty to Me by Jason Derulo on. It wasn't my favorite but I loved the song.
As the song was going I was moving my body rhythmically. My hands and body twisting while my feet were moving. I felt at ease. During some point of my dancing I heard my doorbell. Huh.
I hit pause on the song and ran upstairs. Note that I am wearing sports bra and booty shorts. I walk up to the door and open it to reveal a handsome man. Yes, a man. He looked maybe in his early 20's.
"Hi." I say.
"Um. Hi." He put his hand on the back of his neck awkwardly. Wow.
"Did you need something?" I ask a bit too rudely.
"Yeah. I was just uh, going around the neighborhood. You looked a bit new so, I came to welcome you."
"Yeah thanks. Are you new too?"
"Yep. I mean-yes. Yes I am." Someone seems a bit awkward.
"Do you know of any nearby schools?" I'm just going to cut straight to the point. Whatever the 'point' was.
"Yeah, actually there is. It's about a mile from here. Just look for the big brown and yellow school board. Not hard to miss."
"Well it was nice meeting you Mr.-" I waited for him to continue.
"If we meet again I will tell you. Goodbye. Nice 'meeting' you." He smiled and left. Great. I closed the door and leaned against it.
Well that was awkward.

Well he wasn't kidding about not being able to miss the big sign. My first day of school. I hope it isn't going to be one of those really cliché first-day-of-high school things.
I found a parking spot and got out. The school looked pretty big from out here. Well, time to make accommodations.
As I was walking up to the big school I noticed a couple people standing about, and the bushes under the classroom windows. That would make a good escape plan.
I walked into the building and headed to the main office. The lady at the desk was a rather old woman. She seemed somewhat friendly. I guess.
She looked up at me with her baggy eyes. It felt like she could see into my soul. I flinched.
"How may I help you?" She spoke with her scratchy voice.
"Yeah um, I'm the new kid. I would like to pick-up my schedule."
She typed on her computer rather fast for an old woman.
"Ah. Yes. Alexa is it?"
"Yes ma'am."
"Her is your schedule. Have a good first day." Well, at least she was somewhat nice.
"Thanks." With that said I left. Let's see, my first class was geometry. Great.
I headed down a hallway with lockers and tried to find mine.
146, 147, 148... 167 ah. There it is. I put my backpack in the locker and grabbed a note book and my schedule. The math class was upstairs, so I headed towards the huge staircase.
Somehow I had managed to bump into someone while I was distracted by my thoughts and fell to the floor. My head hit the ground and I quickly sat up and placed my hand on the back of my head. Ouch. I looked up to see the person I ran into and I met with a beautiful blue eye'd, brown hair'd boy. I attempted to stand up but managed to fall again.
"Here let me help you." The boy held out his hand.
"Thanks." I grabbed his hand and he used his well defined muscles to pull me up.
He was wearing a white long-sleeved t-shirt that hugged his six pack. Damn.
"No problem. Let me help you get to class." He said looking into my boring brown eyes.
"That won't be necessary,"
"It's voluntary. Just accept it." I smiled.
"Fine. You can walk me to class." He smiled a smile that nearly reached his eyes. He picked up my notebook from the ground.
"What class do you have now?" He asked.
"Geometry."
"Ah. Ok let's go." He lead the way to the stairs and looked back every now and then, I guess, to see if I was still walking behind him.
Once we got to the room he walked me in there and waited till I sat down.
"I don't have this class so I'll leave you be. See you.
Later." He said and walked away.
"Wait!"
He turned his head.
"Yes?"
"What's your name?"
"Tyler." And he walked away.
Tyler . . . Sounds familiar. Huh. Maybe it just because I hit my head. I shrugged to myself. The bell rang signaling that class had begun.

The day had gone by fast but painfully. It was now lunch time and I was going to see the nurse when I heard Tyler catching up with me.
"Hey. What's up buttercup? Where you goin'?" He asked keeping pace with me.
"The nurse."
"I'm guessing your head still hurts huh?" I looked at him with a 'duh' look. He smiled. I'm never going to get enough of that. I smiled back and continued walking until I reached the nurses' office.
"Hello sweetie. What's wrong?" She asked looking up at me. She looked really pretty, maybe in her early 30's. You cold see some gray in her hair.
"Can I get some Ibuprofen?"
"Have you eaten anything today?" She asks as she digs in her drawers to find the medication.
"Yeah, I ate some toast and an apple."
"Good, good. Here you go." She says and hands me the bottle. I take two tablets from the bottle and walk over to the sink and grab a Dixie cup to fill with water. I put the pills on the back of my tongue, and take a big gulp of water.
"Thank you." I say as I exit the room and throw the cup away.
Tyler was still following me when we got to the lunch line.
"Do you want to sit with me today?" He asks as him and I grab a tray.
"Sure."
I grab a small can of apple juice, a cookie, chicken strips, and some fries. Not the healthiest lunch, but whatever.
We both pay for our food and walk to his table with his friends.
"Hey guys. I would like you to meet Alexa. The new student."
"Hey Alexa." They all say in unison.
"Hey, guys." I say and look down at my food.
"Alexa this is Jerry, Cherrie, Tom, and Ashley." My head shot up.
Did he just say Tom?
I looked at the group of people and spotted the one named Tom.
Oh my God.
