"Mace? Who owns a motorcycle in this school?" Dusty asked looking out her door. We had drove the other five minutes to school and have been parked eating our breakfast for the past five minutes.

"Nobody." I said looking over to her to see it heading to the open spot right next to us. And I knew exactly who it was. "Huh must be the new guy." I said rolling my eyes and watched as Bentley rode over and parked the bike.

"Yep. It's lover boy." Dusty said turning forward a cheeky grin taking up her face.

"Shut up." We both finished our breakfast and balled up the wrappers getting ready to hop out of the truck to go inside.

Knock knock.

"OH MY GOSH." I yelled turning to my window seeing Bentley standing outside my window gesturing me to get out. I just stared at him a second while my heart rate went down. The parking spot next to us was empty so he backed up waitng for me.

Normally I would have just rolled the window down but I had to get out anyway so I opened my door rolling my eyes just ignoring him and getting my bags out of the truck keeping my back to him as I slipped on my grey backpack on both my shoulders and then pulled my duffel bag strap across my body to rest on my right shoulder and have the bag resting on my left hip.

I grabbed my keys and coffee. After seeing Dusty was ready to go I slammed my door shut and locked it. I turned to walk and shoved my keys into my sweatshirt pocket.

I knew Bentley was still there but I started walking choosing to avoid the inevitable for as long as possible.

"Hey Maci, can I talk to you?" I looked to my left to see Bentley walking next to me. I almost snapped but something in his facial expression had me softening for just a moment.

"Uh. We will have all gym period. Is that an okay time?" I asked and his shoulders drooped.

Should I feel bad?

"Yeah that's fine." He said looking straight ahead.

A gust of wind came and I shivered. I was not ready for the snow. But it was October so I better get used to it.

"It is too freaking cold out here."

"Preach it sister!" I said agreeing with Dusty as we made it into school the other student drivers following us in.

~^~

"Alright class! Get into your groups and get to where you were yesterday!" Cort yelled as the class got up from doing the minute sit ups.

I went over to Bentley and we silently got our golf clubs and headed outside. I just followed him to the hole we were at since I didn't know which one we were at.

Yesterday was just really tense. Pretty awkward and just not fun at all.

He was actually walking on eggshells around me and I was fuming.

"Alright I think this is the one." Bentley said stopping at a golf flag and then looking for our line showing where we are supposed to stand to hit the ball.

I pointed it out and we started walking. We were on the soccer field the holes were little round ramps with a hole in the center and we had to walk to the complete other side of the field where our line was to start.

"Didn't you want to talk to me about something?" I asked deciding it was time to just pull it out. He was only going to dig himself into a bigger hole. And I was just going to get hurt more.
