Insanity

The rest of the group caught up to rick. His hands were cut and bruised. His left shoulder had a piece of scrap metal lodged in his skin. Blood slowly dripped down along his black sweat shirt. He had a small cut near his eye and another one on his forehead. His hand reached up and touched the small scar. Blood attached to his finger like a magnet. He lowered his hand and just smiled. Not a small grin that showed he was proud of his work but a smile. He proudly displayed it like no one was there. His hair was messy as can be and it almost shined in the moonlight. Sparks flew past him. His gun in one hand and the large metal pipe in the other. His smile slowly faded, as he dropped the pipe and holstered his gun. He looked up and saw his friends at the door way. He walked towards them and just walked straight past.
"What's up with rick," Bruce asked shifting his eyes from rick half way down the stairs and then at the machine that stood completely destroyed. The green beam that was helping emit the dome stopped at this tower. They notice the green of the dome became lighter. They could barely see out of it.
"He is insane," Ruby was first to respond", first he turns into one of the lingered and then back and no one gives two fucks and then he beat the shit out of Bruce in a boxing match and now he smiled after beating something into the ground, if that's not insane than I don't know what is."
"Ruby he was never like this before, he has a dog, a girlfriend, he has a stable job, he uses boxing to relieve stress." Clarissa stood in front of Ruby and their eyes met angrily. Scarlett rushed in between them. Ever since the incident with Bruce and Ruby as well as when rick went all weird, Scarlett has been weary of Ruby. She was extremely overprotective, more than usual. She couldn't even talk to rick or Bruce because of Ruby. She felt like she could help. Her relationship with Ruby was on a thin thread. They had broken up a few years ago, but that was because of Ruby's parents. They back together as soon as Scarlett moved back to Georgia. Ruby's family never found out and well a few years ago they finally released their secret. Not just to their parents but also to their friends. Ruby is scared of another break up but in fact she was causing one. She showed her love but now in a way that isnt good.
   "Ruby back off, I've had enough of you, you are way overprotective and won't even let me talk to my best friends, rick is a nice person, he wouldn't hurt any of us, he didn't have the choice to turn into shadow and he was just being himself, smiling when he did a good job. He does it at work all the time, and Clarissa had a point." Scarlett stared at Ruby, she was shocked that her girlfriend spoke that way. Scarlett walked of towards the stairs following when they noticed another beam went down. Then another. Now there was only one, they watched to see if I would go down. All they heard were gun shots, screams, then a final scream that sounded like rick. A huge bust of fire shot straight up from the sky. The burst stayed there as a sort of tunnel and then they could faintly see rick half shadow half himself. He was laughing now, loud and clear, everyone could hear him. He stopped and had a small grin on his face and just looked at his friends. His grin left him as he completely turned into shadow. 
     "Like I said, insane."
