Please Don't Run

* Chaper Five *

RYKER

I woke up when my alarm went off telling me it was time for school. I rolled over and hit the snooze button on my phone to get five more minutes of sleep. As I was laying there the memories of yesterday came flooding back and my wolf whimpered. Ameena wouldnt actually take off, would she? She wouldnt leave me behind, her wolf wouldnt let her... right? With those thoughts circling my head I sat up, got out of bed, and headed to the bathroom to take a shower.

I washed my hair and my body and shut off the water, wrapping my lower half in a towel. I walked over to the sink and prepared to shave my face when my mother yelled for me from the livingroom, "Rye! You have a letter sitting on the porch for you!," what? Who sends letters anymore? So I went downstairs, still in a towel, taking it two steps at a time. Walked over to mom and took the letter from her hands not wasting any time while opening it.

'Ryker, I am so sorry for what I am about to say but my pack means everything to me. I told you things I was never supposed to share, especially with someone I barely even knew. I want to keep this short to make it easier for us both. In order to keep my pack safe I had to take them and we had to run. I wish it could have been different but I dont know if i can trust you or your pack to keep this a secret while my pack is still growing. Maybe some day i will come back and eplain everything to you. Please know, this is not your fault. it is all mine. I am so so sorry Ryker. I hope for the best for you and your family. Dont forget about me but dont come looking for me either. Goodbye. Love, Ameena' 

As I finished the letter a single tear fell from my jaw bone and onto my chest. She left. Just like that, she was gone. I have to go look for her! I cant just sit here and pretend this didnt happen! She cant be too far, "Mom, I have to go. Dont worry about me, ill be back. Tell dad I love him, and I love you," with that I took off out of the front door shifting in mid-air heading for the woods. I will travel all of America on foot if that is what it takes to find my mate.

AMEENA

I got to the lake about seven hours ago and met my pack. I finally agreed to take a break and sleep for a little while after making sure we were far enough from Georgia so no one could find us. And by "no one" i mean Ryker. My wolf has been whimpering for hours because she misses her mate already and I have to admit, I really do miss Ryker too.

I couldn't sleep at all because all I could do was just think about Ryker and how he must feel after reading the letter I left on his doorstep. My thoughts started to drift to other things, like the way he looked in the morning at school. His golden eyes and his shoulder length hair, and the way his smile formed when he saw me, and his husky voice- I was shook out of my thoughts by Sabrina in through the mind link, "I think we should start moving again, we've been resting for a couple hours now,"  I hadn't noticed i was laying there for so long until i looked up and realized the sun was already directly overhead, telling me it was about noon. "Shes right, lets start going again. Stay close together please. Dallas take the back of the pack and stay alert. Tell me if anything happens, immediately."  i replied back to the pack as i stood up and shook my fur out.

After making sure everyone was up and ready to go i start to do a light jog continuing on north towards canada. We were almost half way through Kentucky when I heard a rustle in the trees to my right. I stopped abruptly and looked around prepared for anything. Everyone got closer together as they all started to realize why I stopped. I sniffed the air trying to figure out what the sound was. When I couldnt smell anything we should be worried about, I looked at the pack and nodded telling them to keep moving.

We traveled about two more miles when I heard the movement again and stopped again, this time letting out a low warning growl.

"You're the Night Star pack, aren't you?" a young man, probably around 17, was walking out of the trees. I almost instantly crouched down in an attack position, ready for anything. A few members of the pack let out warning growls as well. The man put his hands up in surrender and took a step back, "easy, I just want to talk," I smelled the air again and realized he wasn't a rogue, but a lone wolf. I looked back at the pack quickly and nodded, telling them to stand down.

"Alright, I'm listening," i said to the man after i shifted, not caring that i was naked. Dallas and Sabrina shifted also and Dallas threw me some shorts and a tank top.

The man looked at me confused, probably because I was a female and he noticed i was the alpha, "I am Stephan, a lone wolf looking for a pack. I was seperated from my pack when rogues attacked and burned down the forest we were staying in, along with the pack house-," i stopped him there, because that story sounded all too familiar, "What pack?" i said obviously curious, "Silver Moon," I looked at him with wide eyes, "Stephan!?" I yelled walking towards him, quickly. I saw the confusion in his eyes and I realized I never introduced myself, "It's Ameena, the alpha's daughter." and his eyes grew wide and he smiled.

Stephan was the beta's son and my bestfriend as a child. He and I shared the same birthday and our mothers were great friends. If i am going to be honest, i completely forgot about him until now.

"Look Stephan, I trust you enough to know you wont hurt my pack but we are kind of in a hurry to get somewhere so if you want you can travel with us and when we stop for our next rest I will explain everything. Run in the back with Dallas, my third," I said to him, pointing to Dallas. Stephan smiled and nodded.

I shifted back into my wolf after Stephan, Sabrina, and Dallas shifted into their wolves. After I had realized what i just did i looked over at Dallas apologetically for shredding his clothes and he narrowed his eyes playfully. I made eye contact with Sabrina making sure she was ready and then took off, heading for canada once again.
