“Who are you?” said the pretty lady in front of me
I stared wide eyed and open mouthed. It was as if my voice was gone and all I felt was eyes around me, staring and judging me. The women had a scowl on her face, I tried to speak but nothing came out. I looked at her again hoping my eyes will tell her something about me but she looked confused.
“Maira is everything alright?” said an old man touching the women’s arms tenderly, I glanced at the old man and back to the women in front of me, and confusion set in her pretty face.
“I’m fine thank you” she replied courteously, her long black hair that fell against her shoulders swayed as she moved, I sighed this was the women who abandoned me. She looked back at me and I saw realisation spark in her eyes at my sight.
“Well I do say is this child lost has she any connection with you?” asked the old man, at this point I felt embarrassed she wouldn’t dare to say anything I knew for sure.
“Yes someone I know” she replied “Everyone please enjoy yourself and excuse me for a moment I would like to show this young girl the way out” replied the lady in front of me with a perfect smile and a nod of her head everyone continued to do what they were doing.
She grabbed my hands; they were cold just like feelings in my body right now. I stared at her backside as she dragged me away from the circling group that rounded us with curiosity. We walked down a long hallway and ended up in a suite the size of two or three rooms. I gulped; I wondered what she would say right now I thought.
“Why are you here?” She demanded as she turned towards me I froze, her eyes blazed with fury and suspicion.
“I’m sorry I only came because I had nowhere to go” I replied honestly, she snorted as her hair swayed as she looked away from me.
“You have got to be kidding me, I told him to leave me alone I can’t deal with this right now” she said with an exasperated sigh.
“Please, I will do anything just I can’t leave yet” I cried desperately looking at straight. “Please, I don’t know if you heard but he passed away, I was about to get sent to a place where I don’t know, but I found a sheet with your address and I came here” I replied quickly she gave me a fleeting look.
“Don’t tell me he passed away? What a shocker I thought it would be me that would die first not him” she said as she lit up a cigarette I cringed at the sight.
“I don’t have anyone else, I know that you are my mother I know you gave birth to me I am not here to ruin things, I just need a place to live until I turn eighteen or find a place of my own” I said rushing hoping she would understand, of course there was a small lie that I didn’t add which was ‘finding out why I was abandoned’ but I thought that would not go so well with this women.
“Why in god’s name are you wearing clothes like that” she sneered, I felt a stab of rejection from my own mother already and I shook it off there was no time to be an idiot. “What are you a Goth?”
“I’m a Lolita, I dress in a different manner than most people but these clothing’s are precious to me” I replied solemnly thinking about my father already.
“Geez, I ditch you and this is what he does to you, I knew I shouldn’t have trusted him” she blew a puff of smoke and stared at me hard, I looked at her in dismay.
