That night, I didn’t dream which was rare. On those days I am either extremely tired or confused, but I stared at the clock when I woke up that it was time to go have something to eat. My legs still felt like jelly after yesterday, I heard a knock on my door last night and shuffling I wasn’t sure if it was Angela or even so I hoped Jenson. I didn’t open the door I was feeling like crap and it didn’t help that I slapped the boy three times.

I got changed and tried to think of something but I couldn’t, it was past 10 which was rare of me to wake up to. I walked down I saw Angela shuffling about, I wanted to greet her but I saw my mother stare at me she was on the phone but she pointed towards me, and then curled her finger and motioned me to come. I was sitting down opposite her waiting tills he finished talking when she did she looked at me hard.

“I heard that you ran in to trouble the other day” she said casually, I paled.

“I wasn’t alone” I replied back and she looked at me angrily

“I know which surprised me, but you know ever since you came here it made it worse there was never something like this going on” she growled and I knew she was angry

“I don’t understand” I replied

“It means you need to get your act into gear, I gave you a place to stay not to kill my son what are you doing” she shouted back at me, I stared at her hard.

She was so worried about her son that she didn’t realised I was her family and her blood. I was also a part of her if I had died would she have cared. I’m guessing not because it really hurt a lot to see her shout at me for something I wasn’t in control over.

“I helped him as much as possible, I don’t know what happened but I saved him” I said looking at her

“You did, but you failed to mention what my sons are actually doing” she said annoyed

“I don’t know either I was finding out but I couldn’t get it” I replied exhausted at her questions

“Then find out, you have been slacking” she growled back, I looked at her angrily she was not being fair on me. “I want you to find out and tell me because this is getting out of hand” she lit up her cigarette and blew it in my face “Get out”

I sat frozen, how can she say it so coldly. I scowled at her and got up to leave, I saw Angela who gave me a sympathised look and realised I was getting the pity party looks. I looked back at the women her head down, blowing on her smoke and turning pages. How I could I have come out of her, and yet be more human than she was.  I just didn’t understand why I was getting treated like dirt by her and for what reason.

 Ring Ring Ring

“Hello” I answered out of ear shot, I didn’t even look at the ID caller. Now I wish I didn’t pick it up because the voice on the other end made my heart speed up.

“Good I caught you” I heard the deep voice, it made me tingle inside

“What do you want now?” I asked and I heard him chuckle, what amusement he got out of me was something I never will understand.

“Is that how you speak to someone over the phone or is it just me” he asked politely, if I answered I knew I would say something stupid so I didn’t say anything, he got the hint. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to say that we need to meet up” he cleared his throat.
