Chapter 4

Areea's P.O.V

I stare into soft baby blue eyes, his face inches away from mine. He raises his free hand to cup my face, his eyes darting down to my lips..

I allow myself to inhale his breath. I close my eyes, resting my head in his hand.

"Aye Logan!" I open my eyes and pull back as a younger looking version of Logan runs around the corner, stopping as he sees how close we are.

Logan steps away from me our hands still intertwined.

"Um... Hey Jake, what are you doing up here?" Logan asks blushing.

"Come on, you know me. I do my usual runs here." Jake says grinning at me.

"Oh um, yea." logan says.

"So who's this?" Jake asks looking me up and down, bitting his lip.

"This is Areea. Who is not just something for you to look at Jake." Logan says in a slightly aggravated tone, noticing how Jake was staring at me.

"Oh really." Jake winks at me as Logan steps in front of me, in a protective stance.

"Yes really, now if you don't mind we better be going," Logan says pulling me back down the track towards the car park.

Logan's P.O.V

I lead Areea back to the carpark. I won't let Jake ruin another one of my relationships. He's done this before, he's not going to take Areea away from me.

"What was that about? Who was that guy?" Areea asked a little flustered as we walked back to my car, I stopped and leant against the hood.

"That was Jake, my younger brother. We haven't.. well... been getting on recently." I say sighing.

"Oh, no wonder, you two looked so similar! Are you ok though?" She asked placing a hand on my arm comfortingly.

"I guess, I'm fine, it's just weird... I haven't talked to him for a few weeks," I tell her.

I'm not telling her about what happened between my last girlfriend and Jake. I think to myself, if only this were simple.

"Ok! One sec." She said reaching into her pocket for her phone as it started ringing. She took a few steps away from me and started talking.

"Oh ok. Thank you for telling me. Yes, I'll be there. 4:30? Ok. Thanks." She spoke into her phone. Once she hung up she turned to me, her eyes filled with tears. I knew it was her cousin.

"Leanne... Died." She said running into my arms, soft sobs were the only noise she would muffle into my chest.

"Shhh, It will all be ok Areea." I tried to soothe her, rubbing her back. I kissed the top of her head and she looked up at me. Her brown eyes wet and irritated.

"Can you take me home please?" she asked quietly, I agreed and walked around to the driver's side as she got in the passenger seat.

I gave her the aux cord and let her choose some music, she started blasting Why Don't We's new ep 'Why Don't We Just.' Shocked I turn to look at her.

"What?" she asked sweetly giggling at me, her reddened eyes growing back to normal slowly.

"You listen to Why Don't We?" I asked laughing.

"Yea! Who doesn't?" She said as she started belting out the lyrics to 'runner'

"Wanna free fall inside your head, go everywhere you've been, see everything you've seen, so I can understand!" Her voice was heavenly.
