Chapter 11

I had to lower my gaze. I knew that if my father saw my eyes he would be able to tell that something was on my mind.

"You have answered all my questions, and I thank you for that. But I would like to ask more, if it's not to much trouble." I told them.

"My daughter, you may ask anything you need to." My father answered,

"Why does his majesty want me? If the flower has already been used up and no longer exists, the abilities it possessed are also nonexistent." I inquired.

My father exchanged a look with Logan. "Scarlet," he began. "You have already realized that you have the same color scheme as the Casablanca Lily. But some people theorized that that's not the only thing you may have inherited."

I knit my eyebrows and shook my head. "I'm sorry; I do not understand."

"The theory goes that you absorbed the flowers healing abilities when you mother consumed it." My father explained. "The king believes that that power should be his."

"But... I do not have any such ability." I said. "If I did, wouldn't it have presented itself before now?"

Logan nodded. "That is what we have thought for the past sixteen years. However, nothing is saying that it won't ever come forth."

I looked between the two men before me. This was the information they kept from me for my whole life, and now that I heard it, I could barely believe it. It seemed so far fetched and too much like a make-believe story.

"My dear, I know this is all difficult to digest, but I hope you finally understand why we've done things the way we have." My father said.

"Yes, I do." I assured him.

"I also hope you understand that I may have your security lightened. However, that will only happen if you can give me your word that you will be extra cautious."

"I give you my word." I told him.

"Good. If you have no more questions, then you may go." He said.

"Yes, sir. Thank you for sharing this with me." I said, standing up.

"Of course, my dear." He replied, as he and Logan stood as well.

Logan opened the door for me and I walked out.
