Chapter 3:
Are You Serious..?

🌺 Madison's POV 🌺

Alexis and I both had awaken to the intriguing smell of bacon and eggs. I had done the usual, stretched, checked my notifications and woke Alexis up. She let out a loud yawn.

"It's too early." She spoke as she rubbed her eyes.

I chuckled and shook my head.

About five minutes later I had gotten up and grabbed Alexis by her arms and started pulling her off the bed. She quickly scurried to her feet and yawned one last time before the both of us traveled downstairs to the kitchen.

"Morning girls!" My mother chirped as she turned around to face us while she sipped her coffee.

"Morning." Me and Alexis murmured in unison as we sat down on two barstools.

"I have to go to a job interview in Orlando today. I'm hoping I can trust you girls here alone, right?"

"Of course, we'll most likely be up in Maddie's room while your gone." Alexis giggled at my mother trying to hold back her excitement that we would be home alone.

Alexis loved staying home, even when she was younger. To her it meant freedom; freedom to be yourself and not have to use manners coming from her own words. I on the other hand only enjoyed it certain times. I loved traveling, even if it was only to the nearby gas station.

"Alright, well I will be leaving around 11:30 so in about an hour, and I won't be back 'till around 5:30 this afternoon. I bought some pizza rolls and some soda for you girls to have. There's water in the bottom of the fridge as always."

"Okay mom" I said to her, clearing my throat.

"Oh! And if your also looking for breakfast there's some bacon in the stove. You know how to make eggs if you want any."

We both nodded as my mother hurried off to her room to finish up getting prepared. I grabbed a piece of bacon from the oven and began walking upstairs while nibbling off the bacon slice. I beckoned Alex to follow as she too, grabbed a slice of bacon and devoured it, following me. Soon after making our way upstairs, we had already changed into our clothes for today. Alexis was wearing black, tight skinny jeans, a red checkered flannel with a black tank top under and her black high top Converse. I had changed into my blue, jean-colored cut-off shorts and a white shirt that came down to my belt line. I put the finishing touches to my perfect messy bun before I️ suggested going outside. She tilted her head crooked at me and looked at me like I️ had four eyes.

"But it's hot and we're gonna sweat to death."

"Isnt that the point of summer? For it to be hot?" I rose my eyebrows towards her.

"Well yeah...I guess we can go outside since we're home alone." She stood still for a moment while looking around the room. "Okay, lets go." A bright grin has arose from her blank emotionless face.

After standing on the shady porch and shutting the door, I grasped her arm causing her to walk no further. "Alex, why didn't you tell me last night that mason lived in Florida?" She paused in her place, slowly turning on her heel. "We could have caused some serious trouble." Alex sighed, making eye contact with me. "Because I simply didn't think it was gonna be a big deal to you. I mean it's really not but if it makes you feel better to worm your way into irrelevant information, be my guest."

🌻Alexis's POV🌻

I rudely spat out my reasoning while crossing my arms. I mean, where he lived was none of her buisiness, what happened last night was just some meaningless joke. I could read various signs of confusion all over her puzzled face. "I thought he lived in Kentucky, near where you liv-". I spoke suddenly, cutting her questioning off. "Yes and no.  You see, he did live in the next block. Then soon before him and I started having problems he gave me the horrible news that he was moving. Last night, I had been told that he had been cheating on me last night with my ex best friend Lauren Evans. Shes a whole whore anyways. Last year there were rumors that she had slept with at least four guys from her algebra class."

Maddie's face had faded away from the look of confusion showing that she was following along. I gave her a half smile before continuing on. "Soon after he had moved I erased every memory of him from my room; everywhere. Which I shall admit it hurt seeing that he has moved on so quickly but I honesty suspected it the whole time. Life has gotten better for me though, especially since I'm here with you now." Maddie's face formed into a bright smile as a small giggle slipped out from her lips.

A 'ding' went off from Maddie's phone as her flash went off at the same time. Her smile turned into a sigh as she cleared her notifications and put her phone away. "Who was it?" I questioned her with a confused look forming onto my face. Maddie upsettingly sighed and muttered under her breath, just enough for me to hear, "It's my ex boyfriend drew. He wants me to give him another chance but I keep saying no." She rose her head up shrugging her shoulders. "It's no need to worry though, I have it handled."

I nodded my head slowly while watching her eyes follow something behind me. I spun on my heel to look in the direction that a sound of a basketball being bounced repeatedly was coming from, which now had Maddie's jaw dropped and eyes dilated. My eyes grew large when I saw the figure that shifted quickly while shooting hoops in the driveway next door. A fairly tall boy wearing dark blue basketball shorts and a white t-shirt with black Nike's on. His hair was a platinum blonde color, the boy had a slim figure. I gasped and put my hands over my mouth as the stranger turned around to face the both of us, except only, he wasn't a stranger. My head spun in circles as my heartbeat rhythm grew quicker. At that moment I knew exactly who the stranger was.

It was Mason Andrews.
