I pushed her wheel chair with one hand and held onto Cari's tiny hand with the other. She giggled and ran to my old blue Ranger.
"I don't understand why I need a wheel chair. I cut my wrists, not my legs." I laughed at Avri and pulled her up out of the chair. I collapsed the chair and slid it in the bed of the truck. When I climbed in the driver seat, Cari was bouncing in the middle seat and Avri had her forehead pressed against the tinted window.
"Alright," I pushed the keys in the ignition and the automobile roared to life as we pulled out of the parking lot and onto the highway, "who likes milk?" Cari smiled and raised her hand while her sister just stared out the window, "Do you like it frozen? Maybe with some cookies or chocolate chunks in it?" The little girl squealed and bounced in her seat, keeping her hand up. "Ok good. I know this place that has the best ice cream." I turned onto our road and slowed as we approached my house.
"Where is it?" Cari stopped and dropped her hand. I turned the truck off and opened the door.
"Here," I pointed to my house, "my aunt makes the best ice cream you'll ever put in your mouth." Cari smiled as I helped her out of the truck and Avri silently jumped down and slammed the door.

I pulled Avri into my room and shut the door behind us.
"Alright, what's going on?" She stood in front of the door as if she was planning to use it as an escape route if she didn't want to stay.
"I...I was just thinking about what would've happened if I would've died. We wouldn't be headed to your house for ice cream. I wouldn't have come out if that hospital. I-" I crossed the room and press my body to hers, feeling the curves of her and her chest rise and fall. I put my hand over her mouth.
"Don't," I whispered, "Dont think about it. You're here now and that's all that matters." She relaxed against me and her lips pressed on my palm. I slid it around her neck and placed the other one on her cheek, staring at her. Staring at the way her golden hair felt soft as it covered my hand, at the way her hazel eyes brightened when I touched her, at the way the corners of her lips turned up just a tiny amount when she talked to me, at the little freckle that disappeared when she smiled.
I tilted my head just a little and leaned down, pressing my lips to hers. She froze under me then her soft lips moved against mine. Her hands slid up my hard stomach and chest, starting at the top of my jeans where her hands rested before. Her left hand stayed at the center of my chest while her right slid around my neck and pulled me farther down to her so she wouldn't have to stand on her tip-toes. I skimmed my hand along the side of her ribs and waist, slipping it around her back and pressing her closer to me so I could feel her heartbeat against my stomach.
When she finally pulled away, she was breathing hard and a slight blush appeared across her shallow cheeks. I smiled and rested my forehead against hers, keeping my hands where they were.
Suddenly the door busted open and Cari came running in, screaming.
I jerked away and felt Avri shaking beside me, her shouts filling that dark room.
"AVRI!" I yelled and shook her shoulders. She sat shraight up, a raw scream coming from her lips. I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her into my lap.
"Hey, shhhh," I smoothed her wild hair and rocked us, "Hey, it's okay." I cooed as her tears seeped through my thin shirt. She wrapped her short arms around my waist and buried her face into my chest. I lairs back, both of our heads on my navy pillow, and kept my arms around her as her cries quieted and my breaths slowed.

Hey dudes and dudets! How goes it? Anyhow, sorry this is short. I'm at the lake and don't have a lot of free time so I won't be as consistent with my chapters. Thanks always!
