New Scars

Chapter 6

I woke up to the smell of bacon cooking. The bed was empty and a ray of sun light filtered in through the wooden blinds. I pulled the cream sheets back and stood, my bare feet hitting the cold wooden floor boards.

Walking down the stairs and into the kitchen, I saw Nolan standing at the stove with a white towel wrapped around his waist and crystal beads of water in his hair. I leaned against the door frame and stared at the muscles in his back and the way they tightened when he flipped the meat or at the way they would flex when he leaned back.

"Where's Cari?" I asked, snapping out of my daze. He turned just slightly, a price of crisp bacon hanging from his lips.

"She went with Aunt C to go shopping. But the way," he said turning back to the popping pan, "do you wear a size 0?" I rolled my eyes and crawled up on a bar stool, across from him.

"No, 00. Why?" Me eyes gazed at the way his abs tightened when he talked.

"Well Carol, my aunt, was going to buy a...'coming home' present and a welcom to the neighborhood gift." I ran my fingers through my greasy hair and groaned.

"No I don't need that." He smiled, looking at me through his dark eye lashes.

"Yes you do." I sighed and continued to stare at his sculpted stomach.

"I'm gonna run to the house and take a shower." I stood and started towards the door but his warm hand clamed over my unbandaged wrist. He spun me around and pulled me close to his chest. I could fell his stomach muscles flex under my chest as he breathed.

"Stay. You can take a shower in mine." I smiled, looking at his chest for a moment.

"Thanks but if like to hang in a familiar place at least while I take a shower." He ran out of the room and shouted back to me as his heavy footsteps echoed off the houses walls.

"Give me 3 minutes." I smiled and went to stand by the door, pulling out my phone. I had 67 notifications from Wattpad. All of them were from my readers, demanding another chapter. I typed back:

"Hey guys! I know it's been a while but a lot has gin on since I last wrote. I'm having some family issues because my parents died in a car accident and me and my sister are in the process of moving and then I had a trip to the hospital and then I met this guy. Yeah 'this guy' is....great. He's so helpful and loves Cari and he's cute too. Anyway, I might have a new chapter later! Love lots!
