Chapter 19

The room fell dead silent. Alyssa and Michael looked at Lucas shocked. Their faces showed no emotion. Even I looked at Lucas shocked. He gave them one last look and walked away...

"Lucas don't you think what you said was a little to mean?", I asked as I climbed in the bed.

"I had to get rid of her. Who knows what she could've done", he said as he walked out the bathroom.

"If she was going to attack us, you would've known. You can read minds", I said.

"Yeah but I can't predict every move they both make Morgan. What if they both were to attack us? I wouldn't be able to defend both of us".

"You forget that I'm not the same weak human you met nearly eleven years ago. I can protect myself".

"But I'm supposed to be the one protecting you and Melissa. Not the other way around".

"So I'm supposed to be the damsel in distress like I was years ago? Lucas I'm sorry but like it or not I'm not just gonna sit around and act useless".

"I'm not saying you should but can you at least let me do something to protect you".

"I don't need or want your protection. Oh here's an idea protect me by sleeping in the guest room", I said throwing a pillow at him.

"Morgan come on you don't mean it do you?".

I ignored him and laid under the covers facing away from him. He stayed silent and eventually got the idea that I wasn't talking to him and left out the room, closing the door behind him. I laid on my back and stared at the ceiling. I can't sleep. Usually whenever I can't sleep Lucas holds me in his arms and plays with my hair until I fall asleep. I wish I didn't tell him to go sleep somewhere else. I hate sleeping alone as it is.

After a few more minutes of staring at the ceiling the door opened and I quickly rolled over and pretended to be asleep. A pair of strong arms wrapped around me and soft cold fingers ran through my hair. I felt a pair of lips kiss the top of my head. Then I fell into a peaceful sleep...

The sunlight peeked through the curtains and I found myself alone in the bed. I rolled over and found a note on Lucas' side of the bed.

I'm sorry about last night. I just can't risk losing you. You and Melissa are the only things keeping me sane. I love you to much to have anything happen to you. Please forgive me. xoxo

I set the note down and heard a knock on the door and I groaned in response. I made my way out the bed covering myself in my robe and opened the door and I was shocked to see who was there.
