Simon yawned, and opened his eyes to see Kyle staring over him.
"You okay dude? You took a pretty nasty hit back there." Simon stood up and checked his body for any injuries. Aside from one or two scratches, he was mostly untouched.
"Yeah, I'm good." He looked around. "Can't really say the same for the streets though." He was right. The entire street had caved in half. The sidewalks were reduced to rubble. Even the houses nearby were borderline collapsing, with the residents inside running out in panic. Police sirens swarmed the area, and the neighborhood was soon surrounded by firefighters and cops trying to figure out what had happened. "Should we move out before things get even messier?"
"Good idea" responded Kyle. The two walked out from the side of the building, and quickly ran across the block, avoiding any people they saw in their path. When they got to a safe place, Kyle flipped open a coms device in his pocket and dialed Sophia. "Is everything alright there?" he spoke into the microphone. The reply was static. Kyle turned to Simon. "Looks like we've lost connection." he said grimly.
"Don't we have a tracker on her back at the lab?" Simon asked. "I'm sure if we get back there soon we can track her down and find her."
"Alright, let's try that." The duo began walking down the sidewalk back to the lab.
Suddenly, three blocks away, they heard a loud smashing noise and turned around. Just like in Kyle's fight with Ant Lord, the pavement was cracking and something was crawling out. This time, however, instead of an army of ants, it was an army of... people?
A hand shot out of the gathering dust and grabbed onto the pavement. A man climbed out, followed by a woman. Then another person came out. And another. Eventually, an entire crowd of people, all dressed in the same black robes, was standing in front of Simon and Kyle.
Simon pulled out his tranquilizer gun and pointed it at the crowd.
"Get ready Kyle. Things are about to get messy."
"My suit's deactivated. It'll take at least an hour for it to restore." Simon sighed.
"Of course it will. Just grab a big rock and get ready to fight." The man leading the crowd reached into his robes and pulled out a very nasty futuristic looking gun. Team Gearcrash was in for a long ride.

Simon shot out yet another wave of darts. The Scourge's minions were being knocked out like flies, but wave after wave of them still kept coming.
"I'm running out of ammo, Kyle!" Simon fired another shot, hitting a muscular-looking woman with a laser gun in her hand straight between her eyes. She collapsed onto the ground, unconscious.
"Looks like we're going down." Kyle muttered, dodging a stream of bullets from a minigun. He turned around and chucked a rock at a nearby minion, and was rewarded with another thousand rounds of bullets.
"You really need to work on your aim." Simon quipped.
"After you fix your orange soda addiction." Kyle retorted.
"WELL WHAT DOES ANY OF THAT HAVE TO DO WITH THIS.." Simon began ranting.
"Ladies, don't worry. You're both beautiful." The boys whipped their heads around. There stood an entire army seal team, fully equipped and loaded. The man in the front pulled off his goggles to reveal...
"Lester?" Simon asked. "Didn't we put you in jail like ten months ago?" Lester nodded his head.
"After my sister bailed me out, it was like a miracle had somehow changed my life. My sister's illness was miraculously cured, my cousin managed to quickly process me into the seals... did you know that back in the 21th century it used to take years to join the military? Crazy, right? Anyway, I've been stationed around here for the last couple of months, and when our team heard the disturbance, we decided to come check what it was. Thank god we did, because it looks like you guys need some help
. Boys, let's give these guys a hand."
Before Simon and Kyle could even lift a finger, the seal team swarmed into the crowd of the Scourge's followers, with riot shields and gas grenades ablazing. Black cloaks went down left and right. It was amazing, really, how fast the cult was cut down by Lester's team. In minutes, the entirety of the Scourge's forces were lying on the street, unconscious. Lester slid his tranquilizer gun back into his holster.
"Looks like we're just about finished here. Boys, lets..." His words were cut off by one of the unconscious cult members, a young woman, rising. The entire seal team pointed their weapons at her, preparing to shoot. Her mouth opened, and emitted a black smoke. "Gas masks on!" Lester commanded. The smoke rose in the sky for a moment, then began spiraling around, forming what looked to be words.
'47 Sixteenth Avenue, Primrose Island, NMD 20815'
"An address." Kyle whispered. "This must be where the Scourge is fighting Sophia."
"We'll be walking right into a trap." Simon warned.
"I think it's worth it." Kyle responded.
"Of course you do." Simon sighed.

The next few hours were spent frantically preparing for the journey and, what was most likely going to end up as, a major fight. Kyle loaded his suit with the latest military grade weapons courtesy of Lester, while Simon slid into a new Kevlar jacket. The two were fully equipped and ready to battle.
"Now then," Kyle grinned. "I think we have a criminal's ass to kick."
