Amethyst was already dead. Every inch of her was broken. Her face unrecognizable. Her skin made up of scars, cuts and bruises. Her hair ripped out and cut. Bones snapped like twigs. Her whole being disfigured and mangled.
The woman I'd come to know as unbreakable, had broke. And by breaking her, Manta finally broke me.
She had reached her limit. Separated from the three things she lived for. Her children. And then realizing that it was to late to be saved and that there was no point of living without them. She gave up and let her heart stop.

But I couldn't let that happen.
I couldn't bare the thought of being alone. I couldn't bare the thought of going home empty handed. Having to walk by empty rooms. Hearing the house creak and echo from my footsteps. Having to take in the deafening silence.
I explained it all to Ra's,"Please, you must bring my wife back. Repay Manta by helping me."
Ra's rubbed his chin,"Alright. I'll bring back your wife but for the kids, I'll have you become my personal slave. Do you believe that your family is worth the pain and tasks I'll put you through?"
"Yes sir. My family deserves a second chance."
He grinned and padded my shoulder,"You're a good man. I will help you," he looked to his guards,"Prepare the lazarus pit and ready the woman."
"Thank you, I am grateful," I bowed to him,"I will assist you in any way I can."
"Appreciated." He walked out the room and I followed,"I assume you have the bodies of the children?"
"Yes sir."
He looked at Ame with sorrow as she was lowered into the pit,"Brutal."
"Indeed." I looked away.
"But a tale of caution," He stopped walking and looked me in the eyes,"once people are gone, they never truly come back as a whole."
"I'm not sure I follow, sir."
"I'm saying that she will return different. That people that come out the pit don't come back the same. Especially those with violent deaths."
"It doesn't matter," I clenched my fist and starred at Ame,"I need her back-I need them back."
He forced me to look at him,"You're going through a tough time, maybe you should rest and think this over."
"There's no time for that! My wife and my children deserve a second chance at life! A second chance to live and grow old," I lowered my voice,"No parent should have to bury their children."
No matter what he said, I would still bring them back. I love them too much to let them go.
She was already in the pit when I had finished my speech to Ra's. Ra's men did their chants and crazy rituals as I just waited for my wife to come back to me. There were bubbles surfacing the water and what seemed flashes of light coming from out of nowhere. Their chants got louder to a point where it was almost deafening. The water came to a boil...and then to an abrupt stop.
A hand surfaced. Then an arm and the rest of her body. Her wounds healed to perfection. There was no scratches or scars. Her hair had fully grown back, thick and strong just as before and her whole being shinned like the sun. She was as beautiful as the day I met her...but something was different.
She attacked the nearest man with one swift movement. She went to attack the others and she snarled like a beast as she did.
"Bring the chains," Ra's said calmly, as if this wasn't a shock to him.
Ame attacked-no-killed more men as she continued her rampage. She was violent with her blows. Everyone she touched crumbled at her merciless hands and brut force. She paid no attention to their cries and pleads, but continued to slaughter them.
A rather large man with chains tied Amethyst while she was busy trying to decapate a man. She tried attacking him to but fell to her knees. She continued to attempt to attack the men. Ame snarled at anyone who came near and tried to bite them. Maybe if she sees me, she'll calm down.
I rushed to her side to be with her,"Let her go! She's just scared!"
Ra's tried to stop me,"This is not who she appears to be! Remember she is not herself!"
I pushed him away,"She died loving me, and she will wake from death loving me!"
Before I could fully approach her, she attacked me,"Kaldur!"
The large man pulled on the chains to contain her as I stepped back in shock and pain,"You let them die," she screamed as she struggled against the chains,"They're dead because of you! I'll kill you! I'll kill you for what you've done! You let them die!"
The man pulled on the chains, making it harder for Amethyst to speak. But that didn't stop her from continuing blame me for the children's deaths. She yelled until she was out of sight. And when she was, Ra's came up to me,"At first when they come out, they're monsters and sometimes says things they don't mean. But seeing what Manta has done to your wife, after seeing this," he pointed to the dead men,"Do you really want to bring the children back? They'll blame you as well for their deaths? They'll come back furious, outranged-just like their mother, trying to kill. Do you really think you can handle that?"
