The gaming portal [Reconstruction]

Chapter 3 - The Portal Opens

James' POV

We were working now and we were failing continuously. It felt like eternity and I felt hopeless but I saw a ray of hope when we could generate a part of gate to the portal. After almost 3 hours of working and changing a number of variables and applying many algorithms and one of them worked.

The gates of the portal were opened. We all walked to the entrance of the Portal stood there

"Okay Nora, Kurt I think you can enter the Portal and do your part now." I said.

"Wait we? This thing isn't even tested and you want us to enter the portal and blog it. That's insane James I didn't expect it from you" said Kurt.

"You're right how can I overlook that" I sighed "okay Mukund prepare everything I'll go."

He was surprised and his eyes widened.

"You gotta be kidding me.....no you're not going in we don't even know what is there inside that thing. You're not going that's final......wait I have an idea....." He said.

"What idea?" Ash intervened.

He grinned before speaking " Paul I think it is time to get our toys out....."

"Okay" Paul said.

And I didn't have any idea of what they were talking about. Mukund is one of the the guys whose mind is a bag full of ideas for inventions and I didn't know what he was upto now.

Paul left the main hall and went somewhere.

"What are you upto now?" Steve asked.

"Well I made some equipment for the Portal."

"What kind of equipments?" I asked.

"Well a remote controlled car with a camera, a controller for the portal and a suit."

"Suit?"

"It is for the people who won't be able to enter the Portal as it is. It will give them the experience of the Portal without even if they can't enter the portal."

"Like VR" said Nora.

"Yep but it won't have a controller your brain is the controller as it uses the electronic impulses that connect the suit to the brain cells as the suit's head is just emmits same impulses that our brain does."

"Is it tested?" Steve asked.

"Yeah by me and Paul"

"God damn, how did you come up woth this?" Asked Ash.

And I was literally speechless, how he came up with this? This invention might just help the medical science. He might save the lives of billions of people.

Paul came back with a bag and handed over the bag to Mukund he opened the bag and pulled out the remote controlled car.

"Why did you make this? You could have easily purchased the car.

"God. You know James there is only dry grass inside your head and nothing else. Why god why did you make him metally retarded?" He said and rubbed his cheek as if he was removing a tear from his cheek. Everyone giggled (including me).

Well I wouldn't​ want to start an arguement with a guy who won almost every debate competition in the college.

"Seriously I don't want an argument with you."

"You're saying as if you'll win James" pointed Steve.

"Okay shut up you two. Just please don't.......lets send this inside the Portal." I shouted with of an aura of a boss. I don't like when I do it but sometimes its just necessary.

"Wait I'll answer your question......well this car is a modified car. It is modified to suit our needs. It can climb a wall. This car has a pair of hands you know old school style. It has a microphone and it can turn into a part walking small robot."

"Okay we've just found a transformer." Said Ash.

"Yeah you can say that but this one can only become a part robot only one part can either transform into the pair of legs or the pair of hands."

"You do some pretty insane things Mukund" said Steve.

"Okay Mukund lets do this....lets send this car into the portal......" I said

He picked up the car and handed Paul the controller of the car.

"Whoa, what am I gonna control the car?" He said with an exaggeration.

"Yep I've gotta take care of the portal I'll have to control everything."

"Oh okay." Said Paul.

He put the car on the floor and Paul started controlling the car and all of our eyes were on screen. The car enterd the portal and we watched eagerly, what it would look like? The portal from inside looked blue with some white light flashing momentarily.

"This is just the starting screen" Said Mukund "I haven't yet selected any game."

"Hey tell me something can you play a game without any player?" Ash asked.

Okay all of us overlooked that. We can't play a game without a player. Damn.

"Ah......no we can't." Mukund had his head down.

"Damn......okay.......guys...... I'll go" I said.

"No its too risky for you James" Ash said.

"Yes......" Steve was interrupted by me.

"See guys I appreciate all of you but no I can't ask any of you to do this for me. This was my dream so I'll have to take the responsibility for my ambition and my actions and I am taking the responsibility for them."

"Didn't we help you James? This means it means something to us, this means you mean something to us. We're a family" said Ash.

"But how can I risk your life for my ambition? I can't and I won't.......see guys one of us has to go inside then why not me?"

"Okay" they said in unison.

"So I'll give you somethings that you'll need inside the portal." Said Mukund.

He is a far-sighted guy and I know he'll never let us down no matter how non serious he is.

He gave me an earpiece. You know a small bluetooth and attached a small microphone to my black T-SHIRT.
