    Beep. Beep. Beep.

It's the only noise I wake up to. I tiredly open my eyes, looking around. I inhale a shaky breath, realizing my reality. Tears slip down my cheeks, I let out a muffled sob. Through blurred vision, I look at the bright red, peeling ridges in my skin. The burn marks from the oven rack. I reach over, grabbing the TV remote. I flick the TV on.  I sigh, watching the news.

" Tonight's newest story, Girl gets stuffed in oven by her step father," He says, I close my eyes.  "She's in intensive care right now, they don't believe she'll wake up. She has severe burns and a broken leg.  Her step dad and accomplice were shot and killed by police officers after they heard blood curdling screams. Please send her support on our homepage." He nods and smiles, then it goes to a cheerios commercial. Wait, i'm not supposed to wake up? I swing my legs over the side of the bed, grabbing the wall for support. I hop over to my bathroom. I flick the light on, tearing up at my reflection. My face had dozens of bruises and cut, all shapes and sizes. I see the burn marks in more detail, some purple from intercity. My lips are dry and cracked, split with dried blood. I turn the light off, hopping in the darkness back to my bed. The moonlight shines through the big window,  helping me see. I sit back down on the bed, getting back under the blankets. I put the TV on, turning it onto Impractical Jokers. I  laugh as the door opens slightly. A woman no older than 40 walks in, wearing blur scrubs. She doesn't look up, just closes the door behind her.

" How are we doing to day Elizabeth?" She whispers, still not looking up. " Who put the TV on?" She says to herself.

" I'm just fine, thank you." I peep, she drops her clip board.

" Oh! Oh dearie!" She places her hand over her heart.

      " Hi?" I whisper shyly.

" Oh, thank god!" She looks as if she's crying. " Finally, after a month, you've waken up!"

      " A month!?" I whisper shout.

" Yes honey," She smiles. " How are you?"

     " I'm good, just a little sore," I admit.

" Those friends of yours will be so happy!" She exclaims. " At least one of them comes down every day."

" What time is it?" I ask.

    " 2 A.M." She answers, still glowing.

" Can I have some Chocolate milk?" I ask, she chuckles.

" Of course." She walks out of my room. I smile, excited for chocolate milk.

   ******

" Honey?" Someone shakes me awake. I open my eyes, the nurse stands there with my milk. I thank her. " It seems you ripped your I.V out, I have to put in a new one."

   " Oh, sorry," I blush.

" It happens all the time," She reassures. She pricks me with the needle, I close my eyes.     "Goodnight Elizabeth,"

***********

" Good morning Elizabeth," a less cheery nurse walks in. " I see you finally came back," She glares at me. What did I do?

" Did I do something?" I whisper barely audible.  She glares at me again, taking my chocolate milk. " Can I drink that?" I ask louder, she slams it onto the table. I flinch, covering my face. She smirks, laughs even.

" It's such a shame to waste life  on someone like you," She shakes her head. "If this would've happened in my day, thy wouldn't have been killed." She glares at me again. " Whatever you did must have been very sinful to get that bad of a punishment. Tell me," She grabs my wrist, starring at me with cold eyes. " TELL ME THE SINS YOU'VE DONE CHILD!"
