''There is no use, your gaze alone won't stop it,'' The girl stood by the window had heard the women approach and speak, but she didn't turn around from where she stood, looking out up into the sky. She looked further than the sky and the atmosphere; she saw the war in a distant galaxy, a war she should be part of.
''I should be there,'' The girl mumbled, still not moving from the window.
''You should count yourself lucky that you are not there. You were chosen to be here Violet, the universe chose you,'' The women replied moving closer to where the young girl by the window stood.
''Well I wish it hadn't, I wish I'd never been taken there, I wish I never looked upon the Untempered Schism,''
''You can wish all you want sweetie, but it happened, it gave you your destiny,'' The Women approached Violet from behind moving to place her hand on the girls shoulder, but said girl moved away.
''I don't want to be here. I want to be there,'' Violet whined pointing up at the night sky.
If you were to follow the direction her finger was in, then in a couple thousand years you would hear the screams and shouts as a planet burned in the sky, more importantly you would hear the words; Exterminate. Exterminate. Exterminate. Repeated over and over again, loud enough to drown out the many screams of help.
''Well you're here and there is no going back, even if your father summons you, you cannot go back because this right now is a fixed point in time and you of all people should know not to mess with time,'' The Women turned on her heel and Violet listened until the clicking of her heels could no longer be heard on the wooden floor of her bedroom.
''Miss, I have been told to make sure you are getting ready for bed now,'' The sound of a different woman's voice filled the room; one that Violet liked a lot more than the others. She didn't disobey the voice and wandered over to her bed and got inside the warm covers.
''Lily what happens if it just disappears or never stops. The war what if it doesn't?'' Violet asked brunette women who was named Lily and had been there for Violet ever since she arrived in the house; which had been 'For protection,' well that's what they had told her, but in truth Violet felt more like a prisoner.
''That isn't the sort of question to be asking me. I'm just here to look after you,'' The women replied tucking Violet into bed and kissing her on the forehead, ''Good night Miss, and maybe when you wake up you can go home. It will be a new day after all.'' With that Lily left blowing out many of the candles that lit the room as she went.
She only left the one on Violets side table burning. Violet watched the candle flicker and dance in the dark until she could watch no more and her eyelids began to close.''I will come back for you, I promise,'' The words of her Father whispered to her as she fell asleep.
