"On that day, humanity remembered... The dread that was a life under their rule..."

~

I slowly folded my clothes and placed them into my suitcase. 'This is really happening' I thought as I zipped up my luggage. 'My childhood dream is actually coming true'

I had always dreamed of becoming a member of the Survey Corps.
Ever since I was little, whenever the bell signaled the troops were back, I would run full speed to see the returning heroes.
I sigh and fall down onto my bed. Resting my head on my soft pillow, I look up at the ceiling.

"This is happening." I say out loud.

I run my fingers through my (h/l) (h/c) hair. Taking a deep breath in, I sit up. I stare ahead of me for a brief moment, still trying to absorb everything that is happening.
I finally get up and turn to grab my suitcase. The sound of my suitcase's wheels rolling on my floorboards sounds so loud as I make my way down stairs. Everything feels as if it's in slow motion as I make my way into the dinning room.

My mom is sitting at the dinning table slumped over, tears falling onto the dark wood of the table. She looks up when she hears me walk in.

"H-hi..." I stutter, not sure how to act in this situation.

My mom continues to stare at me, still crying. My dad, standing behind her, arms crossed, standing tall, looks over at me. He looks as if he is fighting tears.

"____..." he whispers. "You don't have to do this."

I look down at the ground. I'm not sure how to respond. I'm on the verge of tears.
I look over at my mom who is still crying, and then at my dad who is trying to hide tears.

"I-I'm s-sorry." I choke out, trying not to cry.

I walk over to the dinning table and pull out a chair to sit. I rest my elbows on the table and cover my face. Hot tears slowly start to form in my eyes.
'Why am I crying? This is supposed to be a happy moment for me.'
I brush my hair behind my ear and look up, ready to face my parents.

"I have to do this." I manage to say. Tears slowly making their way down my face.

"NO, YOU DON'T!" My mom yells through sobs. She looks at me with so much anger and sadness in her eyes.
I quickly look over to my dad as if asking for help. My mother continues to wail and wipe her tears with a tissue. My dad walks over and rubs her back, trying to comfort her.

"I do..." I whisper apologetically.

I hold my mom's hand in mine. Tears are falling more and more.
'Why am I suddenly regretting this?' I think as my tears stain my cheeks.

I feel a hand on my head. I look up to see my dad looking down at me, smiling. He ruffles my hair and chuckles.

"You were always the one to take big risks." He laughs lightly.

"Why are you encouraging her?!" My mom asks, still mad at me for making this choice.

I laugh through tears. "I'm gonna miss you guys." I say as I wipe my tears away with my sleeve of my jacket.
I really was going to miss them. They were all I had left.
"We should get going." My dad says softly.

"Y-ya." I stutter.

I stand up and open the handle to my luggage. I look over at my mom, who is still sobbing uncontrollably.
She slowly gets up and looks at me. we are silent for a few seconds.

"____!" she yells through sobs as she hugs me tightly.

"It's going to be okay." I whisper as I hug her back.

With that, my dad and I were off.
I sat in the back of the wagon and waved to my mom until she was out of sight. I sigh and return to the front to spend some time with my dad before we arrive at the camp.

I never feared the titans, until I witnessed what had happened after the fall of Maria. That happened about 4 years ago. I was around the age of __. It was a fairly normal day. I was out in the field with my mother, picking various flowers to use in a vase we had just bought.

~
"These will look wonderful!" my mom chimed as we made our way back to the house.

"They smell nice also!" I replied, skipping ahead of my mom.

The sun was shining bright. It had rained the previous day, so the sun was making all of the droplets on the flowers shine. The field looked beautiful. Like a sea of shining stars. I skipped further and looked around at the beautiful sight.

"Amazing." I whispered.

I sit down in the soft grass and look up into the sky. I close my eyes and take in the beautiful smells. Suddenly there was a loud crashing sound. My eyes shot open and my head quickly turned towards the sound of the crash.

"An explosion, maybe?" I heard my mom say from behind me.
Everything was silent for a moment. The birds had stopped chirping and the wind felt as if it had stopped completely.
And that's when we saw it. That's when everyone saw it. A large titan's hand griped the wall, causing large rocks to fall.

Frozen.

Suddenly a titan's head slowly appears.
I am aw struck and slowly turn to face my mom, hoping she would have some bizarre excuse for what was going on.
A tear slowly forms in the corner of my mothers eye.

"No..." she whispers.

I turn back to face the titan. Suddenly a large gush of wind blows past us. Bloodcurdling screams can be heard from the city. My mom runs towards me and grabs me by the wrist. She runs with me towards the screams, towards our house. I'm still frozen from fear, pure shock plasters my face.

"We have to get your father!' my mom screams, pulling me through crowds of people.

I have no emotions at the moment. Still trying to figure out what's going on.

"It's ok it's ok it's ok" my mom repeats over and over as we sprint faster.
We turn the corner and see our house, completely destroyed. We both freeze, my mom drops the flowers onto the ground. She drops to her knees screaming bloody murder. I still haven't moved, still frozen with fear. I stare at my house, crushed under a giant bolder.

'This is true hell.'

~

My dad turned out to be fine. Luckily, he was out when the whole thing happened. My mom and I had safely made it to on of the evacuation boats and into Wall Rose. Tears started forming in my eyes, remembering the event.

"____..." I was snapped out of my thoughts by my dad calling my name. "I am very proud of you, you know?" he said, looking ahead steering the wagon.

"Thank you." I whispered. I was surprised that my dad was encouraging me through all this. I was convinced he would have told me to stop and ground me for making such a decision.

We arrived to the camp and he brought the wagon to a slow stop. There was an awkward silence as we stopped. I looked down at my hands in my lap.

"Do me a favor, would ya?" my dad asked looking over at me. A tear slowly fell down his face.

"Please, Live."
