Ever tried to wash a cat? No? It's living h*ll. Every time Emerson tried to rinse Cain off, he would scamper away as if he was afraid of the d*mn water. Emerson had gotten himself soaked in the process, him fuming at the end.
"E-Emmy..." Cain whined as Emerson wrapped him in a towel, tucking it under his arm.
"Go upstairs and get dressed. Just pick one of my big shirts," Emerson pushed Cain softly towards the stairs, delivering a smack to his delicious bottom.
Cain jumped, but took it in stride. Emerson watched with loving eyes as Cain stumbled up towards the second floor. Cain was special, but it all felt so weird. Too much, too fast. In the matter of two days Emerson had learned that his cat was his mate, he was becoming alpha, werecats along their territory were after Cain, had dry f*cked Cain, and given him a bath. That was a lot. Usually, nothing eventful happened around Emerson's birthday.
Emerson chewed on his lip, slightly upset that his mother, had once again, forgot about it. It doesn't matter anyway, Emerson told himself. He fought off the urge to go check on her and see how she was doing. He couldn't be distracted with her at the moment. He needed to focus on the problem at hand- werecats.
Running his hand through his hair, pacing the room. A shrill ringing came suddenly and Emerson jumped, startled. He let out an anxious laugh as he followed the noise to the office. As he sat on the spinney chair (that's what I call them😂) he grabbed the phone.
"Hello, Emerson Jackson speaking. What is it?" He answered to hear a crackly silence.
"Hellooooooo? Anybody there? I swear if this is a prank I will chop off your genitals and shove them down your throat," Emerson threatened, annoyed.
"Alpha, the werecats have declared war if we don't return their missing member... He's their Alpha's son..." The line went dead.
Emerson's words got caught in his throat. He couldn't give up Cain! And he knew it wasn't Cain they were looking for... The solution was simple. They would have to track down the real missing werecat.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Emerson chewed at the stub of an eraser on the end of his pencil. He had roughly sketched out a map of the werewolf territory. He marked the pack house, streets, and important places. Then he drew up the outline of the coming werecat pack.
He studied the map before deciding what place to hit first to look for the werecat. It was an average town, but was packed with tons of werewolves. Most shewolves give birth to as many as 6 pups. The population was roughly 18,000. Emerson's finger trailed out to the west side, closer to where he lived. He circled it, planning to check their first.
Gathering some zip ties, drinks, and tracking devices into a small bag, Emerson strung it across his shoulder. He slipped his feet into a pair of shoes, tying the laces.
Just as he was about to leave, a small voice stopped him. He turned slowly, coming face to face with his mate. Cain's face was a mask of betrayal, confusion, and hurt.
"Y-you're leaving m-me?" Cain asked softly, his eyes blurring as they filled with tears.
"No, no, no! Come here, kitten! That's not how it is!" Emerson stumbled forward, but Cain jerked away.
"Emmy, I-I wanna c-come though," Cain glanced up through his thick lashes as a single tear tracked its way down his cheek.
"Oh, kitten, don't cry! There's been too many tears lately. Anyway, it's dangerous if you go with me, I don't want you to get hurt," Emerson explained, taking Cain's hand in his.
"I'm n-not gonna get hu-hurt! I'm coming w-whether you l-l-like it or not," Cain said more firmly, squeezing Emerson's fingers that were laced through his.
Emerson chuckled softly before nodding. He knew his cat could be pretty stubborn and there was no changing his ways.
"Yay! N-now let's go!" Emerson cheered gleefully, pulling me out the door.
I almost tripped as he pushed me into the driver seat of the car. He hopped into the passenger's and fiddled with the buckle.
"Cain, do you even know how to use that?" Emerson asked, laughing as Cain pouted.
Emerson reached across Cain, his hands brushing across Cain's chest. Cain grasped his wrists, looking Emerson straight in the eyes.
Cain darted forward in a surge of courage. His lips connected with Emerson's, but only for a second. Emerson stared at him with awe, his lips tingling and a hungry beast deep inside him begging for more.
Cain shoved Emerson back, buckling himself in. His eyes were deadest on the road and Emerson couldn't begin to fathom what was going through his mind at that second.
"Cain, that was-" Emerson started, only to be savagely cut off by Cain.
"Shut up and drive."
