Chapter Six

"Daddy, where are we going?" Mason asked once they passed the stadium.

"Home," he answered. "You guys don't wanna stay in your school clothes, do you?"

"No," Mason shook his head. "But I'm hungry."

Russell chuckled. "Buddy, you're always hungry."

"Yeah, but this time my stomach keeps eating itself, I can hear it."

They three pulled up in the driveway of the house before Russell unbuckled the twins, letting them get out the car. He unlocked the door. Mason and Madison stormed in the house, fleeing upstairs.

When the twins got upstairs to their room, the first thing they noticed was the black and red Nike outfit on their bed.

"Nice outfits!" Madison and Mason exclaimed.

Russell came up the stairs and peeped into their room. "You guys wanna wear them now?"

"Yes!" Mason answered.

Russell went back downstairs and began to make them a snack that they could eat at the field. Once they came down he asked them what they wanted to take.

"Can I have carrots and ranch?" Mason asked shyly.

Russell nodded. "What about you, Madison?"

"Apples and peanut butter!" She exclaimed.

After Russell made their snacks, he went to the closet to grab Mason and Madison's backpacks that they used for trips; Madison had a pink Minnie Mouse one and Mason had a blue and red Planes one. He packed the snacks in each of the book bags. He also packed their homework and coloring books. That should keep them occupied

.

Russell went upstairs to get his gear and his own backpack. "Ready to go?" Russell asked as he came back downstairs.

"Yeah," they nod.

The three go outside after Russell locks the door. He unlocked the car door before buckling them up in the car seats when Madison yelled, "Daddy, I have to pee!"

Russell turned to look at her. "Baby, why didn't you go in the house?"

"I thought I could hold it, but I can't!" She wailed while squirming. "I'm going to go on myself!"

Russell unbuckled her and picked her up, carrying her inside. He took her to the nearest bathroom and let her go before going back to the car to retrieve Mason. "It wasn't my plan to leave you by yourself out here, Mason...were you scared."

"No," Mason shook his head. "I'm a ninja and all the villains know it."

The two went back inside the house and waited for Madison to come out. Five minutes later, the toddler came waddling out. After getting the twins back in the car, Russell cranked up the car and left the house.

Russell walked hurriedly to the stadium and to the practice field as he was already late for practice. Hopefully, Coach Carroll would understand why he was late; he had to take the twins home and get them changed out of their school clothes, make them a small snack, and be at the stadium all in record time.

His hands clutched Mason's in his left and Madison's in his right, pulling them hurriedly. "Daddy, can you slow down?" Madison whimpered as she and her brother had to run just to keep up with him.

"Sorry, baby," Russell slowed down his pace.

"Daddy, my shoes are untied," Mason stopped, letting go of his father's hand. "Can you tie it for me please?"
