Lance watched through the window of the tower as his father was dragged away and practically thrown on a horse, set off back into the woods where Nic quickly followed, confused.
"Where's Lance?" Nic asked unknowingly to Lance. Stuck in a tower with a beast as his only company, that's where.
Warm tears slipped from his eyes at the thought of never seeing his family again. He'd never see his friends. Hunk and Pidge will be worried when he doesn't meet them at the bookshop tomorrow. Little Sam and Maria will have to play hide and seek with someone else. He'll never see his nieces and nephew again. His entire life was being thrown away and it was all because of this horrible beast.
When Lance said he wanted an adventure, this wasn't what he had in mind.
He refused to look up when he heard the heavy footsteps of his new housemate, or when he heard the voice of another that he actually tuned out with his sobbing.
"You know, he's going to be here for a while. Don't you think a room better than this dingy old cell is in order?" Coran said.
"No. I think he's perfectly fine here."
"Keith, you just took away his father. A room is the least you can do." Shiro spoke up by Keith's feet. He was actually taller than him once upon a time.
The purple haired beast felt guilty. He'd never exactly known his family, they left a long time ago, but he knew that having a family is important to others. He just destroyed one, twice in one day really.
Keith hasn't changed one bit since the curse was put on him. He was still rude, he still expected everything to be given to him on the click of his fingers, he was still impulsive, otherwise he would have never kidnapped the poor and innocent boy that sat curled up on the damp floor crying for his family.
The curse would be broken if he could love someone and gain their love in return. Keith wasn't going to lie, he was hoping it would be Lance. He was beautiful, brave, kind, everything Keith could ever want and everything he hoped to be. He doubted it would happen now, but it was nice to dream about.
The beast walked closer to Lance and sighed loudly, startling Lance. He jumped in fear and stared up at the beast. The look in his eyes showed his horror, and his anger. Keith regretted his decision to keep him in the first place, but it was too late now.
"I'll show you to your room." He grumbled, and for once, held his head low as he walked out of the room, leaving Lance on follow him in confusion.
"My room?" Lance wanted to be reluctant, honestly, but the thought of a nicer room than the dungeon sounded too good, and so he followed the beast, quickly in order to keep up with Keith's big steps.
As the walked around, despite being rushed, Lance got a good view of the castle. The red carpet that ran the whole way through, the dirty windows, the chandeliers that hung from the ceiling, rusting but still magnificent. The grand staircases that they traveled up were covered in dust but they all represented what the castle would once have been.
The brown haired boy tried to imagine the parties, the guests dancing in large, frilled dresses, the servants serving only the finest wine and champagne. The food would be amazing, served on beautifully decorated plates with silver cutlery. The carpet and rugs wouldn't have dirt stuck in them, the curtains wouldn't be ripped. The castle would be a wonderland, a place for only the wealthiest of people. It was an honour to be able to view, even as a prisoner, and even when the castle is in this old and rotting state.
Lance wasn't going to lie, the place was creepy and more often than not on the walk to his new room, he would run to catch up with Keith in order to feel safer. Not much safer considering he's the thing that kidnapped his father, traded his father for him, and is a good seven foot tall with purple fur and clothes that are ripped everywhere. Keith was scary, but the castle was scarier.
