~ALONE IN MY ROOM IS JUST exactly how I want to spend my day. In fact, that is how I love to spend every day, other than my daily tutoring and violin lessons. Now, I'm ever so lucky to sit in my room and do absolutely nothing.
"Ugh," I scream out in frustration, crumbling up the drawing I was working on and throwing it in my trash. "I can't think in these conditions," I say, noting my empty, silent room, trying to make slight humor of my complete boredom.
"I've had enough of this," I sigh out, standing out of my dead chair and walking to my laptop on my bed. As I stare at the MacBook computer, with its blue case, with a blue keyboard case, on my blue bed, drawing me to the blue decorative lights hung all over my white walls, I start to notice how blue my whole life really is. Not just the room theme color, but my whole life in general. My brother barely talks to me, my mother is a tad bit psycho, and my father was the only one who even slightly cared for me, but now he's dead. Maybe to the eyes of a human, this sort of relationship with your family is not overly a good thing, but as a vampire, a being of dark and torturous powers, destined at birth to be condemned to Hell, this is nothing. This was of life is much more mild than what it used to be, but that is beyond my time, so all I know is that I should be thankful for the life I have.
My eyes skim over all the options on my Spotify playlist. Finally, I settle on a song by Yellowcard, in hopes of the electric violin to settle my boredom.
I flop down onto my bed and stare at the ceiling above me.
This life, I start to think, it's not what I want. Sure, it's great being rich and all, but I think I'd be so much more happy with myself if I didn't live this life of a Hardsworth, of a pureblood, of a vampire. What I am is repulsive, feeding off of the lives of others while not having to lift a finger. It's sickening. I want to be a support to this Empire, just like my father was, not some whore who sleeps with random men because their mommy wants information off of them. For the sake of the Empire, I want to be something more, something greater, but I'm not. I'm just a daughter of the royal family who will never inherit the throne. Therefore, I'll forever live the life under my mother's foot, being forever used as her puppet.
"This sucks," I breathe out in a heavy sigh, trying to move on desperately from the thought of my family.
"What sucks," a perky, and oh-so familiar voice rings through my room, forcing me to shoot off my bed in surprise.
"Elle," I yell out, embracing my best friend who was standing right by my bed, a wide smile on her face.
"Hey Layla," she says, accepting my hug. Once we both get over and done with our greetings, we both take a seat on my bed. Elle is my best friend, and an aristocrat. No, she may not be as high ranked as I am, but her family is actually very important to this Empire. Her family is in charge of many key factors at the Vampire Reinforcement Department, making them a great asset to the Empire. Not only that, they have a remarkable business in the human world.
"Whats with the sudden, but well appreciated... Actually, I could bow down to you for relieving my boredom... To the point, why are you here?" Elle begins to laugh as I trail off on my almost psychotic tango, but she answers me anyhow.
"Well, actually, I had something important to tell you, but I have a question now instead." She becomes serious, too serious for comfort. Slowly, she takes a deep breath in and lets it out. Her eyes look straight into mine, and I'm met with that so familiar pair of green eyes that could get me lost in them. I almost forgot she had something to tell me, until she asks a question that leaves me momentarily speechless.
"Will you be my maid of honor?" In front of me is a hand, and placed oh-so nicely is a diamond ring that rivals to the size of my eye.
"Elle," I gasp out in shock, admiring her ring. "Elle. Elle, Elle, Elle!" My arms firmly wrap around my best friend. She stiffens in my arms before excepting the embrace I've given her, probably from shock.
"Lay," she whispers weakly, but begins to laugh. "Wait," she pulls away, grinning at me. "You never hug anyone. Only as a greeting have you ever hugged me. Never..."
"Yeah... I know."
Before me, Elle sits so beautifully. Her golden, blonde hair sits long and wavy up against her shoulders. Elle, the only vampire to really, truly, reach out to me. All the other vampires that I have meet have all tried to remain nobel and humble in the presence of the Pureblood Princess. But not Elle. Elle was different. She approaches me normally. Not as a pureblood, not as a nobel, but as a friend. Elle was able to accustom for all my feelings.
"I know," my voice weakly cries out, and I begin to wrap my arms around my one and only friend's shoulders, embracing her yet again.
The tears begin to roll down my face.
Tears.
Purebloods are never to cry, especially in front of another person, let alone vampire. Though, this is Elle, and these are tears of joy after all.
"Lay," she gasps, most likely now becoming aware of my newly formed tears.
"You're a pureblood... why are you..."
"Happy."
"Huh?"
Neither of us break the hug. I don't thing either of us have the will to do so, especially since the tears begin to fall onto Elle's shoulder.
"Im so happy for you, Elle. So happy."
