Jeff and I had just gotten to the lunch room. We sat down and when I tell you that I was excited, I mean I had a stupid grin on my face that I couldn't get off.
"What's the good news?" He sighed. I don't think I have seen him smile even once since he had been kicked off the team.
"Well, I talked to coach.." I trailed off. "And?" Jeff asked playing with my fingers. "And.. he said if you raise your grades to at least a C or B average then you can join the team again!" I smiled widely. Jeff's jaw dropped. "Oh my god are you serious!?" He raised his voice excitedly. I nodded.
"Oh my god, I love you so much!" Jeff grinned hugging me but then slowly pulled away. "But wait.. how am I gonna raise my grades? I am too dumb to do that." He sighed looking down.
"Hey, baby listen to me." I said with a soft voice. He looked up at me with those adorable puppy dog eyes. "We will take it one step at a time. Clay and I can help you study. During study hall hours Clay can help. After school I can help you." I told him with a reassuring smile.
Jeff's sad expression soon turned into a happy one. He pulled me into a hug and I grinned. "You're the best girlfriend ever." He mumbled into my hair. I smiled widely.
"I try my best, my love."
