It was Jeff's first day back at school and his popularity left off just like it was before. He was still one of the hottest, still the sweetest, and still the friendliest guys in Liberty high.
"Yo atkins!" Montgomery yelled from down the hall. I held onto Jeff's hand. "Yo, man I've missed you. I'm so glad you aren't actually dead." Montgomery laughed slightly. Jeff nodded. "Yeah, I feel selfish for what I did." Jeff said. The first bell rang and I bit my lip. "I should get to my locker and get my stuff. I'll see you at lunch?" I told Jeff. "Okay, babe. See ya soon." Jeff said and pecked my lips.
I walked to my locker. I was so not ready or prepared for today. I was just happy that Jeff was back.
--------
Lunch time came around and I waited outside of Jeff's class waiting for him to come out so we could head to lunch together. Everyone started walking out of the classroom and then out came Ms. Landon. "Where's Jeff?" I asked her. "He got pulled out of class. Hasn't came back yet." She said. I nodded. "Thanks." I said and walked to the lunch room. I found Clay and sat with him not bothering to get lunch.
"Where the hell is he?" I said running a hand through my hair. Clay chuckled. "Relax. I'm pretty sure it's just some questions the office is asking him since he's been out for a while." Clay said. I nodded.
I felt my phone vibrate in my back pocket and I took it out to look at the message I had just received. It was from Jeff.

Can you come to the hallway? I need you.
Yeah, I'll be right there
I stood up and walked out to the hallway to see Jeff sitting down by the lockers. Was he crying? His head was in his knees. I walked over and sat next to him. "Baby?" I mumbled. He looked up and I frowned seeing his eyes filled with tears.
"What's wrong?" I asked with a soft voice. "I-I can't play baseball anymore." He whispered and started to cry again. No. Baseball was Jeff's hobby, his life, his distraction from everything. "What? Why?" I asked. "Coach found out about the drugs and kicked me off the team." He said. I sat in front of him and he pulled me onto his lap and put his face in my shoulder. "I'm so sorry, Jeff." I whispered.
Jeff shook his head and cried. "I'm such a screw up. I can't do anything right." He said as his voice cracked. "Don't ever say that." I told him as I stroked his hair. "There's tons of things you do perfect. You are an amazing boyfriend, you are very popular, you're so sweet and you put other people before yourself. That's just a few of the many wonderful things you do." I told him as I kissed his head. "I left you though. I made you think I was dead. That's not being a good boyfriend." He shook his head.
I frowned. "You left to protect me. That's amazing. You care about anyone other than yourself." I told him.
Jeff looked up and smiled gently.
"I don't deserve such an amazing girlfriend like you." He smiled as he pecked my lips.
"You deserve the world, Jeff." I told him honestly.
