He could hear the sirens coming closer and closer. He sat, his head between his knees, his hands and feet cuffed. He sat in an empty room, his black hair untidy, and his shirt torn surrounded by 10 policemen.
His time was up. The words of the judge kept ringing in his head. He was convicted on 67 counts of murder, rape, drugs and fraud. He had just kept smiling as the sentence was read. He knew that this day would come, where he would die.
He opened his eyes between his knees and stared at the floor, his vision a bit dazed. He didn't regret a thing of what he had done. They deserve everything he had done. He had proven himself. They and many more deserve to die.
The sounds of the sirens were right out the window and one of the policemen started walking towards him. It was time, he thought to himself.
'It's time to go' the policeman said to him coolly. When the man bending over didn't give any response, he sighed.
'Look, just make it easy on yourself. We are about to transfer you to Crayston Prison where you would stay until your execution. So help me out and you won't hurt yourself more than you already have.'
He didn't still speak as the policeman lifted one of his arms up. He offered no resistance as he finally stood up and allowed the policeman to lead him to the car.
His long dark hair covered his eyes as his head remained bent as they approached the large armoured truck. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw another criminal being led out of another room. The criminal had a bad leg and moved rather slowly. His leg gave way and he was about to fall when he reached out and held the criminal up with the back of your shoulder.
'Sorry man, you should totally check out that leg' he said with a soft mutter. The man grunted in approval and got into the truck before him. He got in and was shown to a seat where he sat. A policeman jumped in with them at the back before the back of the truck was closed and they were all in darkness.
He heard the sound of the truck and it came to life. The truck started to move slowly from the pathway into the road leading to Crayston. There was silence at the back of the truck. He could hear the steady breathing of the other man and the policeman. He wondered what crime the other man had committed and smiled to himself. He didn't think any man could commit the atrocities he had committed.
Just then, the truck took a huge sway as something hit it with so much force and the men were flung in different directions. With the cuffs on, he could do nothing to help himself as the truck moved erratically. The policeman had his gun out as he tried to balance himself in the midst of the commotion.
'Just great' he thought. I would die even before going to jail. The truck came to an abrupt stop. Silence followed the stop as the policeman, unsure of what to do cautiously approached the entry to the back of the truck.
The silence was shattered by the sudden burst of gunfire as the policeman fell back immediately in shock. The gunfire soon stopped and voices could be heard laughing as their voices drew nearer to the back of the truck. The policeman positioned himself with his gun raised like an expert.
The back of the truck was blown open and the policeman started shooting. He slowly realized he was shooting into thin air as there was no one in sight. Walking slowly, he approached the darkness of the night outside.
Suddenly two men came out with loaded Uzi- guns and started shooting wildly laughing at the top of their voices. The policeman dropped down dead with bullet holes all over his body.
'My brother!' the men shouted in pure Russian accent and the man with the bad leg shouted back in response as he walked towards them.
They embraced and laughed loudly.
'Quick, before more policemen get there, let's go!''Sure but wait, there is still someone in the truck' he said walking back into the truck. Taking the keys from the dead policeman, he released the cuffs from my hands and feet.
'Thank you' he muttered before he went back to his brothers and started discussing in low tones as I got up and started walking out of the truck.
He turned back to me and threw me a wad of cash with a set of keys.
'Here, take this. Get a new life.' He said before rushing to the car and getting in.
'Thank you' I said still in shock.
'You're welcome, kid. Now get out of here before they arrest you again' he said before the car sped off into the night.
Suddenly I heard sirens in the distance. I got in the sports car and turned on the ignition. Reversing, I raced into the night straight toward Crayston City.
