Lisa couldn't draw her eyes away from him. She stood there so still and unmoving. She just couldn't believe her misfortune. Of all the persons in the world, even among the persons, she hated it had to be this one guy, this only very irritating fellow that had to be her neighbour.

'Back to earth one Iris West' Deb said slightly shaking her. Lisa turned back to look at Deb who was looking at her quite mischievously.

'What the hell were you looking out?' Deb said still looking at her. Lisa swiftly turned to where she had seen him and met an empty window secured by the glass.

'Uhmm, was just deep in thought' she said shaking her head.

'Come on, let's get out of here' Lisa said walking towards the car, the keys dangling between her fingertips.

'You are one complicated human' Deb said chuckling. Lisa smiled as she roared the car to life suddenly convinced that now, the doughnut eating man has invaded her daydreams and hallucinations.

Her mind drifted as the car gathered speed and with Deb on her earpiece, she gathered her thoughts. She missed her dad. She had only known him for a short time. She remembered the night he died...the look on her mom's face.

She wanted to catch the murderer, that's why she was studying criminology. When she found him, she would kill him, as slowly as possible. It was her life's mission she thought as tears dropped from her eyes.

The tears blurred her vision a bit as she cleaned her eyes and turned into the street where Deb lived. She came to a stop in front of her house.

'See you later' Deb said before getting out of the car. Lisa nodded in affirmation as she drove off heading to her home.

****************
Lisa was exhausted when she got home. Her waist ached and it felt like there were two huge stones tied to her shoulders. She hoped she would get up early tomorrow but deep down, she was wishing or rather hoping she would be so damn late to classes.

When she got out of the car, she noticed immediately that her mom's car wasn't parked outside.

She's probably still in the hospital she thought. Her mom usually worked shifts in the hospitals. Growing up, she had to stay in different people's homes and when Deb came along, her home had become her second home. Sometimes she wished her mom had more time for her but she realized that her mom had no choice.

She really did love her mom, but she missed her more.

Holding one side of her neck, she muttered to herself as she staggered to the front door. She dipped her hands into her pocket looking for her keys. When she didn't find them, she started spewing some unladylike words in inaudible tones.

The first thing she heard was the dangling of keys, then the slight whistling coming from someone's lips. Startled, she jumped and shifted a bit. Her heart pounding, she clenched her fists in an attempt to fight off any intruder who showed his face.

'You are clenching your fists the wrong way' the voice came out of nowhere. Lisa knew for certain she was going to die. The voice was so deep, the kind of voice that men who packed a muscle had. She was sure she was doomed. But still, the heroine in her fought on.

'Come out, if you are man enough' Lisa said

The voice chuckled and then she could hear footsteps walking slowly towards her, inching closer. She couldn't breathe as she turned desperately to see where the person was.

She suddenly heard the sounds of keys dangling again. She turned back immediately and shrieked and fell backwards. She closed her eyes as she expected to feel the ground impact on her back. In that microsecond, Lisa's mind drifted to how many bruises she would sustain. She certainly hoped she would suffer no concussion.

But the landing never happened. Instead, she felt strong hands wrapped around her holding her up firmly. She opened her left eye and took a peek at what has happened and saw very familiar brown eyes looking down at her with an amused smile. Then, she saw him dangle something in front of her eyes which she vaguely recognized as her house keys.

'Recognize this?' he asked. Lisa just stared at him before she started seeing spots of darkness and suddenly her world turned black.

Lisa fainted right in his arms.
