The tears had long since dried, with me and Stiles sitting in the Yukumoras' home, Kira one on side of me, Stiles on the other as I remembered the feeling I had gotten when Allison had died.
It had felt like I had died.
Noshiko, Kira's mother, poured two glasses, sliding them closer to Stiles and me. "Here. It will calm you."
"What is it?" Stiles asked.
"Tea," Noshiko answered.
"What, like magic tea?" Stiles asked as he took his.
"No. Chamomile tea. Drink it."
I slowly took mine, not drinking, not speaking as Mr. Yukumora walked in. "They're not safe here."
"They're not safe anywhere," Noshiko replied.
"But Allison killed one of them," Kira said. "Doesn't that mean something? She killed an oni."
"Is that even possible?" Mr. Yukumora asked.
"I'm not sure how," Noshiko said.
"But she did it," Kira repeated. "She killed one of them."
I finally spoke up. "Yeah, and then they killed her." I looked at Noshiko. "You were right. I felt it. It felt like I died." I sniffled, looking back down at the tea in my hands. "Allison's dead."
"Now I guess the only good thing is that it looks like I'm dying too," Stiles said.
I turned my head to look at him, shaking my head. "Not good."
Noshiko sat on the other side of Stiles. "He made a powerful move by splitting the two of you."
Kira reached for a piece on the board before sitting back. "So what's our move?"
"At this point, you need a divine move," Yukumora said.
"What's that?" Stiles asked.
"In the game of Go, it's what we call a truly inspired or out-of-the-box move," Noshiko explained. "The Nogitsune has had sente, the advantage, until this point. What you need is a divine move in order to turn the game around."
"Okay, is anyone feeling divinely inspired?" I asked.
"Mom, you said you trapped it in a glass jar once," Kira said.
"It wasn't the jar that trapped it," Noshiko said. "It's where I buried it."
I remembered this part of the story--Dark Stiles had told me when he had again used Oliver to torture me in the basement at Eichen House. "The Nemeton."
"A place I don't know too much about," Noshiko said.
"Who does?" Kira asked.
"Deaton," Stiles answered. "Deaton does."
°
Stiles, Kira and I got to the clinic as Lydia said, "Something's happening. I had this sudden feeling like we're running out of time."
"Yeah," Stiles said, all of them--Lydia, Scott and Deaton--looking at us. "Yeah, I kind of got that feeling too."
My phone buzzed, and I stepped to the side as I answered. "Argent?"
"I need your help."
°
Standing with Isaac and Argent, and they telling me they knew how Allison killed the oni with a silver arrowhead, and they told me what they wanted, I told them, "I'm not using a bow. The bow is Allison's weapon, no one else's."
