Description:
Castiel Novak comes from a religious family, only having his siblings to turn to since they've never met their mother and their father had abandoned them. Castiels eldest brother Michael (32) has become 'father' of the house, Lucifer (28) has become a drug addict only coming to the family to see if they will help him get his next fix, his sister Anna (26) acts as sort of the mother hen towards everyone, ten there is Castiel (18) who happens to be homosexual, and Gabriel (16) the youngest most annoyingly adorable little brother. Home life for Castiel is not better than school life, he is constantly berated for being gay and is only allowed to stay with the family because Anna won't let Michael ditch Castiel and Michael doesn't want to get gods bad side.
Dean Winchester (19) lives with a drunk father and looks out for his younger brother, Sam (16). He has looked out for Sam his whole life, always there to make sure Sammy is never left alone to get hurt by their fathers drunk anger. All throughout Deans childhood he has looked at girls, has wanted them, yet he sometimes gets these feelings for boys as well. But his father tells him it's wrong, beats him if he even talks about it or does anything with another boy. Dean doesn't know what to think, to listen to his father or to listen to his heart. He's never had his mother by his side, she died and wasn't there to help Dean understand himself. So Dean instead listens to his father and watched out for Sammy. So what will happen when a religious disappointment to his family and an obedient confused son find their paths cross? Will they find love within each other Or will immense hatred loom over both their heads, pulling them apart? Find out in Being Noticed

Thoughts:
Being Noticed is a good beginners fanfiction. It starts off the way you would want it to start off. However, that is not what we want. We want a story that is close enough to perfection that it will pass for perfection. The plot is mediocre. It is the same, "Dean is being abused by his homophobic, drunk of a father and Castiel is a part of a religious family that considers him being gay a sin," plot that most Destiel story writers use.

The relationship between the two main characters is rushed throughout most of it (including the ending). Dean is very confused as to why he is feeling what he feels for Castiel, but he has never felt this way about anyone so he goes with it. Castiel has had a crush on Dean for an awfully long time (I must say the author also could've handled that better, I get the "crush as first sight thing", but having a crush for 8 years?? A little crazy, no?) and is more than happy to accept whatever he is to Dean.

Moving away from their somewhat rushed relationship, there must be something said about the "villains". We have Crowley, who has been bullying/harassing Cas because of his sexuality, but he is more of a background villain that seems to have been added for no reason but to make the story .000001% more interesting (or boring?). Then there is Lucifer and Michael, who have made it clear to Castiel that he is sinning by being gay. Again, these two do act as more of a sub-plot to Castiel's story, but we must ask ourselves, do they really matter, and how do they help the story reach it's full potential? The last villain is, you guessed it, John Winchester. Homophobic, abusive, and he's even more of a threat when he taunts Dean, telling him he would hurt Castiel if they keep seeing each other. He's more of a villain than anyone else in this story, but in all honesty the author could've done a better job with including him in the story. That is what it's ultimately about, having a story that is properly written, has a good plot, good character storylines, the climax, and a villain who should be properly inserted into the story through it all.

All in all, Being Noticed is a pretty average story. I definitely would recommend for you to read this, for it's not too bad. I remember enjoying this story when I first read it, and a part of me still enjoyed it to a certain degree.
