Frustrated. Just frustrated. It was the only way to describe Elsa's mood that drizzly Friday morning. She sat in her car and watched as the rain splattered on the windscreen, thinking pointless thoughts about where each drop came from and what it was before that. An ocean? A puddle? A tear? She quickly realised that this was a strange topic to waste time thinking about and snapped back to reality.

She grabbed her bag and stepped outside the car. The rain was heavier than she'd expected so she held her bag over her head and ran for cover inside the school. Once she stepped in the doors, she looked down at her gray t-shirt to find it had dark spots of rain all over it. Great, she thought.

Ignoring some odd glances from her peers, Elsa shook the water droplets off her bag creating a loud rattling. She threw it over her shoulder and walked down the corridors. Then she noticed a flicker of silver hair which she recognised in a heartbeat.

"Frost!" She cried. He turned around sharply, looking around for the girl he knew the voice belonged to. His eyes rested on her and a smile twitched across his face as he made his way towards her.

"Hey Snowflake." He shoved his hands in his pockets.

"Are you ever gonna stop calling me that nickname?" Elsa pushed him jokingly.

"Nope, has a nice ring to it." He smirked. "Listen, I'm sorry for just... assuming you would do the showcase with me, and then for assuming you were ditching me. I know you wouldn't do that, I really am sorry."

"I forgive you, you idiot." Elsa laughed. "And, I'm sorry for everything too. I would be happy to do the showcase with you."

Jack frowned, "What changed?"

"Well, I don't know. I was just scared that I would let you down. And if I did, you might be mad at me and-"

"Elsa- that's insane. You could never let me down. Sure you could make a mistake, but I wouldn't care." Jack nudged her in the ribs, "You sure you wanna do it then?"

"Yeah, I'm sure." She giggled.

"It's not stupid, it's spectacular!" Hiccup, the school's best tech boy was arguing with his girlfriend, Merida.

"Hiccup, you can't do a light show as your act." Merida was holding her head in her hands; they had been arguing about what Hiccup was going to do for the showcase since their Principle had announced it.

"It would be cool!" He pushed his glasses up his nose indignantly.

"Hiccup, dude I have to side with Merida, a light show? Are you serious? What even is that?" Jack raised his eyebrows. He was sat with his arm around Rapunzel who was trying to feed him popcorn. "No, sweetie I'm good." He mumbled to her.

"Okay, so picture this. An empty stage. Intense music comes in. On the beats; lights. Bam! Woah, the lights are in time with the music? What? Crazy!" Hiccup was now crouching on top of his chair, he was very interested in his idea.

"Honestly, Merida, you may as well just let him do it." Elsa rolled her eyes with a laugh.

"And let him embarrass himself on national... okay, fine you can do it if you want love." She smiled at Hiccup, giving up completely.

"So Jack, Elsa what are you guys doing?" Hiccup asked, shoving a large curly fry in his mouth.

"Uh, we don't know yet." Elsa rubbed her arm with a nervous laugh.

"Whatever it is, it'll be amazing." Hans gave Elsa's hand an encouraging squeeze. She looked at him with a small smile before Jack interrupted the moment.

"What do you think our best performance was guys? Elsa and I could probably work from that. Right Els?" He looked at her with intense eyes.

"Yeah, I guess so." She nodded in agreement. Then, a large argument managed to break out between the friends about which performance of Jack and Elsa's was the most awesome. It was a very uncomfortable situation for the two best friends.

Elsa sat in her English lesson singing song after song in her head, but nothing was right. How were her and Jack supposed to know what song was the right one to sing on national television? It was impossible. At least they were about to have spring break to think about it. Because wow did they need it.

Psst!

Elsa sighed and rolled her eyes, realising Jack hadn't learned from their last detention. She reached her hand behind her and grabbed the note. She unfolded it and read it as discreetly as possible.

'Why don't we try writing a song? - J'

Elsa frowned. They'd never written a song together in their lives and he wanted to try it for the first time on TV? Elsa didn't have the nerve for that. Did she? Perhaps taking a risk could lead to a victory...

'Maybe... - E '

Thank God this time Mrs O'Hara didn't catch them.

As Anna walked past Elsa's bedroom she heard a loud groaning noise. She took a big bite out of her candy bar and opened the door. Elsa was lying face-down on her bed screaming into a pillow. And she was listening to her annoying Spotify playlist that she put on every single day for no reason.

"Someone's being a depressing Denise." She said spitting crumbs on Elsa's carpet. Elsa lifted her head out of her pillow with a frown.

"What the heck? When has that ever been a common phrase?"

"It hasn't, I just made it up." Anna stepped inside and shut Elsa's door behind her.

"So what's wrong with you?"

"I don't know what to do for the showcase." Elsa flipped herself and stared up at the ceiling.

"Just sing a song." Anna joined her on her bed. Irritated, Elsa threw a cushion at Anna.

"Wha- hey! What was that for?"

"Obviously, I'm going to sing a song, I meant: I don't know what song to sing!" Elsa spat sarcastically.

"Alright, calm your little platinum blonde head." Anna retorted.

"You suck at comebacks."

"You suck at everything."

"Great." Elsa laughed. "Seriously Anna, help me."

"Shouldn't you be asking Jack about this? I mean he is going to be the other half singing it." Anna shoved another large chunk of candy bar in her mouth.

"I don't know, I think we're both gonna choose some songs and rehearse them and see what works best." Elsa sighed.

"That's weird." She spoke with a mouthful of candy.

Elsa stared at her, "Why?"

"You always choose your songs together." She shrugged.

"Yeah..." Elsa thought about this. "Yeah we do, this is weird."

'Frost! You busy?' Elsa texted Jack and stared at her screen expecting an instant response. Sure enough the three little dots appeared within ten seconds.

'Not even slightly. You wanna come over?' He replied. Elsa considered it, but a better idea popped into her head. They needed inspiration for their song. They needed excitement.

'No. Let's go on an adventure.' She smiled to herself.  A road trip with her best friend. That's what they needed.
