It was getting late; Jack's family had had to make their way back to their hotel, informing Jack he needed to rest. But he couldn't rest, obviously he couldn't. He wasn't allowed to think about Elsa before breaking things off with Rapunzel, and he couldn't break things off with Rapunzel because he was stuck in hospital.
He sighed to himself, staring up at the ceiling. Why is it that when you're in hospital everyone expects you to be able to sleep at like 9pm? Jack was 18 years old for goodness sake.
He tried to rehearse what he could say to let Rapunzel down easy, but it was impossible. She had told Jack's mother that she loved him. No matter what he would say to her, she was going to be heart broken, and she was going to cry.
"Great." Jack said to himself. "And now I'm talking to myself. That's not weird at all." He twiddled his thumbs, still trying to keep focussed on Rapunzel but it was no use.
"What's the point?" He sighed. "What I should be doing is rehearsing what I'm gonna say to Elsa, that's the more important thing here..."
Jack thought for a second. "Hey Elsa, you know that weird, funny thing I did earlier? Yeah that. Wasn't that funny? Uh... what did you think of it?"
"I'm guessing she'd think it was normal behaviour from a guy who talks to himself."
Jack nearly fell off the bed he was so startled. He squinted at the silhouette in the doorway. She turned on the light in his room, temporarily blinding him, and walked over to his bedside.
"Anna? What the hell?" Jack rubbed his eyes, trying to adjust them better to the bright lights.
"Me and my parents are on our way back to the hotel, I just wanted to speak to you before we left." She shrugged.
"How much of that did you hear?" He huffed.
"Not much. Just the part about it being so funny." Her tone was unrecognisable to Jack, he wasn't sure he'd ever heard it before.
"What's up with you?" He frowned.
Anna sighed, "Nothing. Look, you don't need to rehearse a conversation with Elsa, she's already on the same page as you are."
Jack was hesitant, "And... what page is that?"
"Just, go talk to her and figure it out yourself. I'll see ya later Jack." She patted his hand and walked out the room, mumbling something about being sick of sorting everyone else's love lives out for them.

Elsa was laying wide awake, staring up at the ceiling. Since being at the hospital, she'd started to appreciate why Jack had glow-in-the-dark stars on his ceiling, without them it was a very boring thing to stare at. Her eyes were tired and dry from crying. She didn't want to be in hospital anymore, she just wanted to go home and see Hans; the guy who didn't confuse her emotions and cause her heart pain. She sighed to herself and closed her eyes. What would be the harm in trying to sleep? The day had been very long after all.
Knock, knock.
Elsa gasped and shot a look towards the doorway. She heard who it was before she saw who it was...
"Sorry! I didn't mean to wake you or scare you or-"
"Oh- Frost, it's just you." She breathed a sigh of relief. "What are you doin' here?"
"I'm sorry it's just- I couldn't sleep." He wheeled his chair next to her bed and managed to slump himself in the nearby armchair. Elsa flicked on the bedside lamp so they could see each other. Even in the faint, yellowish light, Jack could see that her eyes were red, and it looked like she had been crying. He frowned, "I wanted to see you. Check how you were feeling, I guess... A-are you okay, Elsa?"
