The second Alex hung up, the doorbell rang again. She threw her phone on the couch and sighed, walking over to the door. She took a deep breath before she threw it open. And then there he was. Chris smiled brightly. "Hey, Al. Can I come in?"

Alex raised a brow, not moving an inch. "This is a bit unexpected." She said. Chris frowned.

"Come on, Alex. It'd be nice to catch up. I'd love to meet your girls. Miles has been talking to me about them. They seem like really nice girls." He said. "Please? I brought them presents." Alex sighed, widening the door. She turned around and walked in, Chris grinning as he followed in suit, closing the door behind him. "So how've you been?" He asked.

Alex gestured to the couch. "Okay. Feel free to have a seat. The girls are taking a nap right now." She said. "What about you? I haven't seen you since, well..." She trailed off, sitting in a chair across from him.

Chris rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah... that was, pretty wild, huh?" Alex nodded, looking down at her hands. "Listen, Alex," He started, leaning forward. "I can't help but wonder, we... shared that night about, well, six years ago. So, nine months for the pregnancy, and five years later, subtract three months. Are they... mine?"

Alex looked up quickly, her reply almost immediate. "No. They're not." She said. Chris rubbed his chin, nodding.

"Alright, well," He cleared his throat. "You said they're napping?" He questioned. Alex nodded. "Well, I don't have to stay then. You seem not up to company right now," Chris said, standing up. "I can drop by later, if you want?" He offered.

Alex stood up as well. "Yeah, sure. I guess that's alright. Come around at about eight." Chris nodded.

"Sounds like a plan." And with that, Chris briskly walked to the door and exited the house, leaving Alex alone with her thoughts as she wondered what the hell she was going to do.
