Nayla left the hospital and headed back to her room to take a nap. Lately it seemed like she was always tired. This pregnancy was taking a lot out of her. She gained about 25 pounds already and hardly anything fit her in her closet. She felt like a big beach whale but everything was worth it to make sure her baby was healthy.

When she opened the door she spotted something that didn’t belong immediately. There was a note attached to a pink teddy bear on her bed. She walked over to it and picked up the teddy bear and looked it over once then grabbed the note and opened it.

I’m going to be busy for another couple of hours but can you meet me by the bench in front of your building at 4? I was thinking that we could talk some more about what happened today and then head over to the mall. I bet you need some new clothes and we can look in some baby stores and I don’t know pick some stuff out for Hope

Devon

P.S. The teddy bear is for Hope. Her first gift from her Uncle :)

Placing the note down she sat down on the bed holding the bear. She knew he was being nice but picking out baby stuff was a whole different situation she knew she wasn’t ready for. How could she buy anything knowing that she was dying, and would never get to see her baby girl playing with her toys or wearing the outfits she picked out just for her? On the other hand Devon would need everything since he would be raising her even if he didn’t know it yet. Looks like she would be going baby shopping after all.

Before she did anything she needed to take a nap and fast because she could barely keep her eyes open. She layed down on her bed and before she knew it she fell asleep. Her dreams always consisted of Brandon and all the things they used to do together. He would hold her and tell her everything was going to be okay but before she could say anything she would always wake up. He was so close yet so far away. Tears fell on her pillow as she slept.

She had just made it to the part in the dream where she tried to speak to him when all of a sudden she felt herself being shaken.

        “Nayla wake up”

No she was too tired to wake up so she pulled the covers around her and tried to ignore the annoying voice waking her up.

        “Nayla wake up sweetie”

“Go away whoever you are” she said and threw a pillow into the air trying to hit the mystery person.

“If you don’t get up I’m gonna tickle you”

“Ugh fine I’ll get up” pushing the covers off of her she got up and realized it was Devon in her room. On her bed.

“What are you doing here I thought I was supposed to meet you at 4?” she asked.

“Nayla it’s 4:30 so I came up here and found you asleep”

“Okay but how did you get In here, I know I locked the door”

He held up a key ring full of keys.

“Perks of being the son of the owner, I have keys to all the rooms in case of an emergency” he said while smiling and raising his eyebrows.

She grabbed a pillow and hit him with it.

“Oh wow you are so creepy at times. Okay well I’m gonna go take a shower and I’ll be ready to go”

There was one problem she couldn’t get out of the bed. She tried rolling to get up but her belly was in the way. Devon couldn’t help but laugh at her.
