"It's clear." I heard Riggs say, I snapped out of the daze I was in as I heard him remove the vent door. I slowly crawled out, looking down each end of the hallway before I fully crawled out. I brushed myself off and helped Riggs out of the vent then we thought about our options.
"As much as I'm curious to know who was with 049, I think I'll pass." I said as I looked down the hallway in which they walked down. Riggs took off his helmet and gasped for air, as if he been running a marathon. "Agreed.. From the looks I got from the vent.. And that voice.. My thought is it's 096." I looked back at Riggs, "096?" I asked. Riggs slipped his helmet back on and glanced down the hallway. "Commonly more so known as "The Shy Guy", he's a... Good looking... SCP, trust me.. He's spectacular.. Word to the wise.." Riggs looked me in the eyes," Don't say he's ugly, no matter what." Chills went up my spine and I could sense the sarcasm he was putting on how he was good looking.
"We should follow.. Hopefully Dr. Smith will be contacting us soon." Riggs said, he started walking down the hallway in which they went. "Wait!" I yelled out. Riggs turned around and crossed his arms. "What happens if you think he's ugly..?" I asked, scared of the answer. "Let's just say, I don't want to have to piece you back together and pick up your guts all over the floor, and your mother just got you back so I wouldn't risk it." He answered. Like I feared, the answers made my body freeze, and a chill came surging through my body." Emily! C'mon!" Riggs yelled out, and like that, I was back to the twisted world I was in. I caught up with Riggs as he walked on and we started heading back from where we came.
I was just as excited to see Samuel again as I was fearful of encountering the person with him, my stomach twisted and turned at the thought of me getting ripped to shreds but, I kept pressing forward with Riggs leading the way. I didn't really know what to expect, but as we kept heading back there was no sign of Samuel or 096, as I remember Riggs calling him walking down the corridor. I watched the floor as we walked and there were no blood stains from where Samuel punched the wall so hard... I still can't believe I made him that angry.. Or that.. Sad.. Or... That mix of emotions coursing through his brain, starting running through mine, the sense of pain of losing someone you love, then the bitter sweetness of finding someone new. I tensed up but my body kept moving forward.
I could tell Riggs was worried about me, but I didn't know what to say to him. He just kept constantly looking back over his shoulder down at me as we walked along, I didn't know how to tell him about that dream, but I mean. I could try. "Hey Riggs.." I started trying to make conversation, my voice cracking under nervousness. "Yeah Emily?" He asked back, his face looked back at me as we kept walking. "Do.. Do you know Samuel.. or.. 049's backstory..?" Riggs turned back around, not bothering to answer, but with a deep sigh coming from him, I could tell that he knew what happened. "I'll take that as a yes.." I quietly said, he didn't bother saying anything after that. I continued on, "Anyway, I had this.. dream.. while being transported to the medical bay and while I was in there too, and.." "I know." Riggs said, "you saw Samuel as who he used to be, a loving, caring person. Who he really is under the mask. Outside, he looks cold, dark, heartless. That's what the world saw of the Plague Doctor, nothing more than darkness." Riggs said, a slight shiver was sent crawling up my spine when the words went through my ears and processed through my brain. As I realized that back then the Plague Doctor wasn't actually all rainbows and lollipops.
I heard two high pitch beeps and then Riggs reach for his walkie talkie on his shoulder, "This is Riggs, go ahead." "Hey Riggs, Dr. Smith here, We managed to find the door controls, but we also ran into a little problem along the way." I could sense the panic in Dr. Smith's voice and I could feel that Riggs could sense it too. Riggs broke out into a sprint towards the way we came, I followed suit. "Well, what problem?" He asked, "When the power went down, it shorted out the wiring for the door controls. I have a guard working on it now, also I took a look at the cameras. Be on the look out because 049 has 096 with him and that's one SCP that I'm not ready for Emily to do deal with." Dr. Smith said. "OH! BUT YOU THREW ME IN A CELL WITH A PLAGUE DOCTOR! THANKS MA!" I yelled, Riggs looked back at me as we ran through the corridors. "We're en-route to your location, see you soon."
It was pretty much a straight shot from where we came, I believe Riggs slowed down his pace for me to keep up with him. When we reached the corridor from which we started Riggs inserted his key card for the door to open so we could walk in, but the door didn't budge. "Oh...no..." Riggs said. He inserted his card again and the door still didn't move. Riggs reached for his walkie talkie. "Doc. Please tell me this is some of your work." "Yeah, yeah, we're working on it. Give us a minute. ASHTON! OWEN! HOW MUCH LONGER ON THOSE DOORS!?" I could hear the guards yelling at each other in the background. "Give us about 15 minutes." Dr. Smith said. I whined, I screamed, and I banged my fists on the door. I laid back on the door and slid down. "Why.. why is it like this.. Why do you treat me like this?" I asked, being dramatic. Riggs looked down at the floor at me. "Wow. Dramatic much?" He asked, he took a seat beside me and started twirling his combat knife in his hands.
A few minutes later, the walkie talkie on Riggs shoulder went off again and the sound of an extremely irritated Dr. Smith came over the radio. "We'll have you two in momentarily, we just have to cross these two wires and we should be good." I could hear the bickering back and forth between the two guards in the background. "ITS THE BLACK WIRE WITH THE WHITE WIRE!" "NO! ITS THE BLUE WIRE WITH THE WHITE WIRE!" "I KEEP TELLING YOU ASHTON! ITS THE BLACK WIRE!" I heard the constant arguing and bickering back and forth between the two guards over the walkie talkie and the irritation coming from Dr. Smith was getting higher by the minute, "JUST CROSS A WIRE WITH ANOTHER WIRE BEFORE I SHOOT YOU MYSELF!" "Yes ma'am." The fear in their voice ran high and even I was scared for their lives at this point.
I was laying back on the door as it flung open and my head smacked down on the tile floor. "Need a hand?" Riggs asked as he stepped over me, lending a hand to me. "Yeah, thanks." I took his hand and we started heading down the corridor. Dr. Smith was already in the hallway waiting for us when we got there with the two guards by her side. "Riggs, Emily," she nodded at us then pointed back to Ashton and Owen, (the two guards) "Dimwit and Twat here managed to fix the controls while in the heat of all the constant bickering and arguing. We managed to also locate and isolate 049 and his friend within a corridor, so that's the good news. Bad news is, we actually don't have any bad news. Yet." Dr. Smith said. "Well, let's go see Samuel again." I said, looking at Dr. Smith. She nodded, leading the way. Riggs and I followed behind her and Ashton and Owen brought up the rear watching behind us.
We reached the corridor that Dr. Smith sealed off, she took out her key card but stopped short of inserting it in the slot. She looked back at all of us and said, "I advise you all look down. For safe measures." All of us looked down at the floor. I heard the door open and the sound of footsteps come towards us. The sound of them got closer, and closer. My body tensed up and my heart dropped down to my stomach. "I told you.." I heard a male voice say, "They're scared, they're only listening to the Doctor." I heard Samuel say, I heard Dr. Smith let out a small laugh, "I've learnt from the best." I felt something touch me, it was a familiar touch. A kind and healing touch, one that I haven't felt since the chamber. "Hello again Emily.." Samuel's hand cupped my chin and tried bring my eyes up to his but I refused. "Don't be afraid, he wont' hurt you. He won't hurt any of you.. I.."
Load buzzing sounded over the intercom and then an announcement came over it, "Mobile Task Force Unit Epsilon-11, designated Nine-Tailed Fox, has entered the facility. All remaining survivors are advised to stay in the evacuation shelter, or any other safe area until the unit has secured the facility. We'll start escorting personnel out when the escaped SCPs have been re-contained."
"Ah.. That's.. The bad news.." Dr. Smith said as she let out a small sigh.
A/N: This chapter took, holy hell longer then I wanted it too like Jesus Christ almighty. Anyways, "Chapter 7 - RUN!!!" coming out in a few days. (God I hope at least.) I will talk to you all in the next chapter and I love you all. Peace. <3
