The alarm kept sounding but all of us kept standing frozen in the corridor. I was still too afraid to look up at Samuel for his friend might be looking at me. Samuel ran his fingers through my brown hair but my body only cringed, I didn't mind his touch, frankly I really enjoyed it. Samuel whispered down in my ear. "You don't need to be afraid, the sooner you look the sooner we can.." He was interrupted by gun fire erupting outside the door. All of us out of curiosity looked up to where the direction of the gun fire came from. Too bad it was in the direction of his friend.
He was pale white, his arms hanging down to the floor and his fingers were claws covered in blood. "I'm not gonna hurt you, I've already said I wasn't.." He said, shyly. His eyes met mine, I saw a sense of pain and regret. I didn't know where that pain was coming from. His victims maybe. I couldn't pin point it down all the way. "I know, I'm ugly.." He said, turning away from us. "You're actually not." I heard Ashton speak up, "I second that." Owen said behind him. "Agreed, you don't look ugly at all." Riggs said. He turned around to look at us, the emotion in his eyes changed from guilt to happiness. "You guys really think so..?" He asked. I stepped forward, admittedly I was afraid but I knew he needed some support, even if it was from people he didn't know. "You're not ugly at all 096, you just need to clean yourself up and that'll definitely change your attitude towards yourself. I mean, I think I'm ugly some days. So does Dr. Smith I bet." Dr. Smith nodded her head in agreement. "It's true, we all think we're ugly in some way, shape, or form. But its whats on the inside, that helps us form the outside look to the world." Dr. Smith said. "I suppose your right.. My name is Noah, by the way, but 096 is what you guys know me by.."
We continued chatting for another few seconds when there was ticking coming from the door behind us. "They're here.." Riggs said. He drew out his M1911 and loaded it up. Ashton and Owen slung their SR-47 assault rifles off their shoulders and back in their hands. "Start backing up.. Slowly.." Riggs said as he looked back at us. "What's going on?" I asked. "Shh!" He shushed me. "You know that announcement a moment or two ago?" Dr. Smith asked as we back up to the other door. "Yeah..?" I questioned. "Its them.." She whispered. The ticking outside the door got faster and faster then stopped. "Shield your eyes!" Riggs yelled. Me and Dr. Smith quickly grabbed a hold of each other and looked away from the door. Samuel and Noah just stood there watching. The door came flying in and my ears started ringing. I only screamed for I was too scared to do anything else. When the dust settled and the ringing stopped, I turned back around to see ten highly equipped and most likely dangerous soldiers at the end of the hall, guns drawn at us.
No one moved, I'm pretty sure if anyone did that would erupt a gun fight. A soldier stepped forward from the other end of the hall, weapon down and helmet off. I could hear Riggs's anger go up and his teeth grind together when he saw that person. "RIGGS OLD BUDDY!" He said, "I'm not your buddy." Riggs answered. "C'mon now that's harsh. It's just little ole me... Captain Reid of Mobile Task Force Epsilon 11. You remember me don't you?" He asked. "I remember you taking everything from me! That job! My family! My everything!" Riggs yelled back. "Heh, oh what a shame. Now, all we want is that girl all of you are protecting and we'll leave." He pointed at me when he said that. "What! Why do they want me!?" I screamed, "Haha, it's simple. You're valuable to The Foundation, don't you know that Emily?" He asked, "You... you know my name.." My voice quivered. "I know a lot more then just your name sweetheart. Now, if all of you just hand her over we'll be getting on our way and this doesn't have to end in a bloodbath." "NOT A CHANCE REID! YOU'RE NOT TAKING HER AWAY FROM US!" Riggs yelled. "So be it." He said.
I looked up at Samuel who was standing in front of me, I guess protecting me. I saw the anger well up in the corner of his eyes as I looked over his shoulder at him. I looked back at Dr. Smith who was slowly creeping backwards toward the door we were cornered in. "The fact you think you guys can escape is absolutely adorable Dr. Smith." Reid said, "or should I call you SCP-049-2A?" He asked pulling out his sidearm. Dr. Smith froze in place, the shock of what he said was sent through her. "How did you know.." She asked, looking at the ground. "There isn't a thing I don't know about ANY of you!" He yelled. I stood there, clinging to the back of Samuel's trench coat. I looked down at his right hand, and he was gesturing something towards me. I took the item slowly out of his hand so that Reid wouldn't notice. I examined it, "A flashbang..?" I asked myself in a whisper.
