Chapter 6:

Sure there were the big memories that we created in these last few months, but there were also daily things, that made everything feel right.

Every morning we would walk to Spanish and French, Mallory, Katie, my other friend Maddie, and I. We would get to Mallory's locker where her stuff would be spread across half of the hallway. We would wait for her to gather her stuff and then go to first period, busy talking about our days. There were also the days when we would arrive at Mallory's locker and she would be gone, once again reminding me of what every day would soon be like. At Spanish, Katie would tell us that Mallory was worried they would be late so they went without us. Another things I loved about my best friend, she always freaks out about time, but I do too.

After school every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, when Mallory had gymnastics from 5:30-9:00 instead of 3:30 to 5:30, we would walk to a few blocks away from school to be picked up. Of course, Mallory would freak out about time sometimes and we would end up speed walking three blocks, only to arrive a few minutes early. The other days when she didn't walk with me felt, well empty, but son every day would feel that way. An empty space by my side walking to the car, or wherever we used to do hints together, it would be empty.

Little memories made me think of how much my life would really change and how much I would miss her. These things give me comfort and make life seem normal and everything is in place. When she moved, it seemed as if everything would soon be scrambled up, left for me to rearrange.
