Ch. 8- Pack Initiation
I was screwed. The pack ceremony was in a few hours and I had no idea what to wear. It's been several days since the famous Alpha fight and today was the day Caden and I would be officially initiated as the new Alpha and Luna. It was a very big and formal event and the whole pack is expected to come. So I was more than a little nervous. The fact that I didn't have anything to wear wasn't helping either. A knock on the door pulled me out of my anxious thoughts.
"Come in," I said as I turned to see who it was. "Hey Lu- Niala."
She laughed at my mistake. "Don't worry, you'll get used to it. Soon we will be calling you Luna."
"Ugh, don’t remind me! I am nowhere near ready to be Luna of the pack," I cried as I flopped down on the bed. "This position is just not for me."
"I beg to differ," Niala replied as she sat on the bed next to me. "You have all the qualities of a great Luna. You are brave and strong. If it wasn't for your intervention I could have lost both my son and my mate. You are very forgiving and compassionate and you genuinely care about people. You have made my son the happiest he's ever been and your beauty never fails to light up a room. You may not know it but you already act like a Luna."
"She's right," my wolf said suddenly. "We were made for this position. We would have never gotten an Alpha mate if the Moon Goddess didn't think we were fit to be Luna."
"I know but I'm still scared. I don't know the first thing about leading a pack," I told her in my head.
"Don't worry, just trust me. I will guide you through this and show you just what to do. Before long, you will get the hang of it. Like I said, you were made for this."
I was pulled out of my conversation with my wolf by the Luna.
"Aliyah, where are your clothes?" she cried as she noticed my current state of undress for the first time. "The ceremony is in an hour!"
I looked down at the ground, embarrassed. "I don't have a dress."
"What! Why not?"
"As a pack slave, I didn't really need to own an elegant formal dress- not that I could afford one anyways."
"Why didn't you tell Caden? He would have given you money to buy one."
I shook my head. "I don't want to keep asking him for money. He has already done so much for me as it is. I could never repay him."
"As his mate and the new Luna, that money is now yours too. You shouldn't be afraid to use it," she explained. "It's too late to go buy something now but I think I have the perfect dress for you in my closet. I'll be right back."
I watched as she hurried out the room, wondering what she was up to. After a while, my mind drifted back to the past couple of days. After Caden had beaten his dad in the Alpha battle he had taken me home to rest and finish healing. I had officially moved in and we have been spending a lot of time together as he showed me around the pack territory and taught me about all the other packs in our region and the country. Basically all the things I need to know as Luna. I was again pulled out my thoughts by a knock on the door.
