Hadley's POV
I wake up to the sound of what everyone would think of as a horror movie. But it's typical for me. The sound of water dripping from the shower, and the creaking of floor boards. This is just an average day for me.I limp out of bed, after being best up almost everyday, I'm pretty much used to it. I like to keep to myself.
I fix my breakfast and do everything in my ability to get ready for school. As if being a freshman isn't hard work already, being a freshman all alone during the day is even worse. My parents are divorced. I live with my mom. Well, I should at least. She's never home. Always at work or out drunk. Sometimes I just think she doesn't even remember I'm alive.
I don't have any siblings. As if I'm not alone enough, I have no friends. Nobody to connect with or share daily struggles with. Just myself.
I turn on the shabby TV set. I wish we could afford something better, but for now, this will make due.
I flip to channel 3, the daily news. The broadcaster speaks about the Americas Got Talent winner from last night. I've never really paid much attention to competition shows. I find this topic kind of boring, so I just shut off the television.
I kick on my shoes and leave for my bus stop, which takes me about 5-10 minutes. I have a lot of time on my hands as well.
The bus pulls up and ahead of me, I have a 30 minute ride, so I take out my phone and listen to music. I paid for the phone myself, after years of delivering mail and doing yard work for neighbors, I guess it has paid off.
We pull up at school, and as always, I'm the last to get off the bus. everyone always shoves me aside, which makes the bruises worse. I manage to hide them under my jeans.
Throughout school, everyone talks about Americas Got Talent and the top 6. by the end of the day, I can finally remember their names. Collins Key, Cami Bradley, Taylor Williamson, Forte, Jimmy Rose, and winner, Kenichi Ebina.
The school day passes by as slow as a turtle, so I just play with my long, curly hair. It's a mess, as usual, so I guess I can fix it up during class.
The bell finally rings, signifying the day is over. I never like the bus ride home, so I just walk 5 miles!
I'm a few streets from my house, when a white can pulls over in front of me. This happens every so often, so I just walk around the vehicle and progress home. This time is different!
