Hadley's P.O.V
He's gesturing for a hug. I'd love to, but I hesitate. I can tell he's a little bit drawn back by my approach. But, I'm a loser already, better bit make it worse. I lean in and he gives me a comforting hug.
I have never felt so safe and warm before in my life. It was suck a magical feeling. I just want to feel it again. I've never even had a true hug before. My mom has never given me one, yet this boy I just met manages to give me more comfort and warmth than my mom ever has.
Collins's P.O.V
She was so hesitant. But when she leaned in, I felt better. She gave me warmth, hope, and comfort. I've never felt that from a girl other than my mom before. Wow!
"Well nice to meet you! What's your name?" This is my chance to find out about my mystery girl.
"Hi," she says really softly. "I'm Hadley."
"I love that name!" The crowd laughs.
"We'll Hadley, here I have a normal deck of cards." I gesture for her to feel the cards. She does, making it obvious these are your typical deck of playing cards.
"Now everyone's signature is one of a kind. Nobody can copy it exactly."
"Except if you work for the FBI or are a criminal mastermind!" shouts a boy from the audience. That gets quite a laugh. I smile.
"Yes, I guess. But Hadley, I want you to pick a card. Say stop at any time."
I turn fan out the cards and Hadley shouts stop on the 9 of hearts. I then request for her to sign the card which she does. Then I explain for her to put it in her mouth folded up. I then do the same to the queen of diamonds, and pop it in between my teeth.
Hadley's P.O.V.
This trick was amazing so far. It was so genuine how this boy could make so much out of a magic act. I didn't quite know where it was going yet. Collins just popped his signed card in between his teeth, just as I had done with my card. This was where it was getting somewhere.
Everything got silent. You could here a pin drop and find it. Just when I thought it would end, Collins started to lean in, as if he was going to kiss me! He couldn't be serious could he?! He leaned in so far I was sure this was to end badly, when suddenly, he stopped, and popped his card fully in his mouth and right back out again.
He told me to pick my card out from my mouth and open it. I slowly reached up to my mouth to pull out the nine of hearts. But, it wasn't there! Instead I saw an unfamiliar signature, and the queen of diamonds! Collins found his card to have my signature and the none of hearts.
"Show it to the audience Hadley!"
He was as happy as I was! I turned to face my card to the audience as the all applauded and whistled! Some where so excited they cried. Wow, some girls in my grade really over react.
"Thank you so much for helping me out Hadley! I'd like you to keep my signed card as a souvenir!"
He gives me a warm smile and affectionate hug again as I sit back down where my empty spot has laid still. I think I may have a different outlook in magicians now!
