Chapter 14

I quickly realize that what I'm doing is wrong, and pull away from Devan

"I-I'm sorry Devan. But I can't like you like that. I'm dating your brother, not you," I exclaim.

"I know, I know it's wrong. But I have loved you since the moment I laid eyes on you. You're beautiful and kind-hearted, and just perfect. How could I let my idiot, disrespectful older brother possibly love somebody that deserves so much more. I thought that maybe you could see.-" I cut him off.

"How could you possibly say something like that about Collins? He's your older brother for God's sake! How could you possibly say something that disgusting about your own blood! Oh what I'd give to have a family!"

"If you think that what I'm saying is a lie, why don't you go out there and see how he's treating those fans of his?" Devan is challenging me. But I know Collins would never live up to what Devan is claiming. So I leave the room, and go out to the doorway, and what I find, I wish was a lie.

"Just get away! All of you! You're all nasty human beings with no respect for anyone. I'd be sick if I were your parents. Get away!" He is shouting and making gestures to the fans as they walk, terrified, away from the area. I saw their phones out the whole time. How much do you want to bet they were recording?

Collins turns around and stutters when he sees me. "How much of that did you see?" he asks.

"Enough, way enough. How could you possibly do something like that? Especially to those people who love and support you! They're just fangirls. Sign something and take pictures! Then they would leave! You didn't need to do that!"

"Hadley, you didn't see the whole thing!" I had known I had seen enough. There was no reason for him to have acted that way.

"Devan was right," I murmur under my breath.

"What was that?" Collins asks. Rudely interested.

I reply with a simple nothing. His parents had left a short time ago after meeting me, gone out to dinner, through the back door. So it is just me and the two Key brothers. This isn't going to go down well.
