It was 6pm & I was home alone.

Natalie was spending the night at a friends, so I had the whole night to myself.

I had no idea what to do.

I decided to tidy the house of a bit, so I did so.

Things like; doing the dishes, laundry, picking up toys and what not.

About an hour later I was done, and now back bored.

The sight of Jacob's disappointed face from the other day kept coming across my mind for some reason.

A part of me wanted to talk to him, but another part of me didn't.

He's your best friend, you have to.

My conscious was telling. I sighed, because I knew it was right.

I pick up my phone and click on the contacts app. I scroll until I his his name;

"Bestoo 🔐🤞💙"

I called him.

It rang a couple of times, before he picked up.

"Uh hey Nicole, what's up?" I heard his deep voice say into the phone.

"Um are you busy right now?" I asked, nervously biting my lip.

"No not really, why?" He asks.

"Well I, just wanted you to come over so we could, you know talk." I say, swallowing the small lump in my throat.

"Oh, um of course, I'll be right over." He replied.

"Cool see you soon." I say quickly, hanging up.

I head to my room to go change out of my cleaning clothes.

I just wore a crop top & some sweatpants and threw my hair in a high ponytail.

A few minutes I hear my doorbell ring, I figured it was Jacob. He doesn't live that far away so that's why he got here so fast.

I jog to the bottom of the stairs to answer the door.

When I open the door, I see him standing there in a black tee and some basketball shorts.

"Hey, come in." I say, clearing my throat.

"Hey." He says awkwardly as walks in.

"So... we need to talk." I say sitting down, while patting the seat, signaling him to sit next to me.

"Yeah we do." He says, as he plops next to me.

It silence for minutes until I finally spoke.

"Well, I think that we shouldn't let what happened between us get in the way our friendship."

"Definitely." He said.

"But.." he started.

"But what?" I finished.

"Nothing... never mind." He said quietly.

"No Jacob say it." I insist.

He took a deep breath then spoke.

"Did it um... you know...mean anything to you?" He asks.

I was shock that he asked that. I didn't really think about that. I guess I just shut out my feelings and focused on how much I thought it was wrong.

I mean... did It mean anything?

"I don't know." I said, looking down.

"Did it to you?" I ask, furrowing my eyebrow.

"I don't really know either." He says, scratching the back of his neck.

"I mean I liked it." I said, regretting I did because my cheeks flushed red.

His eyes widen.

"Same here." He said, causing us to laugh.

I love how we're so honest with each other.

"But on a real note, let's just stay as best friend right now." I suggest.

"Yeah, let's do that." He replies.

I smile, knowing yes he understands.

I scoot closer to him so that I could hug him.

"Best friends." I whisper into his ear.

"Best friends." I whisper back.
