He had now been with Evelyn for about three months, and he felt like things were only getting better. He met with Evelyn every night in her barn, and they would talk, and laugh, and love each other. He would tell her about all the little things that he loved about her, he knew she liked hearing them, and she deserved to hear them. Having Evelyn was the only good thing in his life, and he held onto her with everything he had. Elizabeth had become tiresome, he was not enough for her, he couldn't do anything right, didn't make enough money. She was always wanting things he couldn't give to her which in a way made him resent her, he had no idea why she wanted so much anyway. Evelyn didn't want anything more than him, and that he could do. All she wanted was him, and the dream of running away together. Yes, he thought, he could make that happen, he could make that happen for Evelyn. She looked like an angel laying down next to him on a blanket that they had laid down in the hay. Evelyn had fallen asleep and he was playing with her thick golden hair. Then he lightly kissed her awake.
"Evelyn my love" he said quietly.
"Hmmm?" She groaned awake.
"I need to get back home love." He told her.
"No" she pouted, and grabbed the collet of his shirt, pulling him towards her for a kiss. He loved it when she pouted, she was so cute.
"I'm sorry, but I must."
"Stay with me." She whined, climbing up on his lap, kissing his lips, face and neck.
"You know I have to go" he said, feeling himself fall into temptation.
"I know" she sighed, "when are we going to leave Mason?"
"Soon, my love, soon" his said kissing her forehead.
"Alright, I love you Mason"
"I love you too. Have a good day, I'll see you tomorrow night."
Evelyn
The next night Evelyn had gotten to the barn first and once again hoping that maybe this night would be the night that they ran away together, but she hoped for that every night. When she saw him she couldn't keep it inside anymore.
"Mason, let's leave, let's leave tonight! Right now, I'm ready let's just go!" She exclaimed
"I can't right now love" he said.
"Why not?"
"Because I need to take care of things at home."
"What things? Is it Elizabeth?" Evelyn asked. Masons eyes found hers and they were stern.
"No, Elizabeth has nothing to with this, I love you, not her."
"Then let's go!"
"I told you Evelyn I can't right now" Mason said.
"I don't understand this. Mason, you told me that I needed to be ready to go whenever, and that we could leave at any time, and that it would be soon. It's been three months! also you told me that my family would be fine without me, well your family will be fine without you too, so let's just go!" She said, getting frustrated.
"Evelyn, my mother is sick, and I don't want to just leave with no word while she's in this state."
"Is it serious?" Evelyn asked feeling a little ashamed.
"I don't think so, but even so I don't want out leaving to potentially make anything worse." He said. Evelyn did feel bad, and she crossed her arms over her chest.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know." She said. Mason could tell she was embarrassed, and he went and held her.
"It's alright, i know that my mother will be fine, and I just want to make sure everyone is fine and healthy before I leave. Is that alright? Can you wait for me?" He asked.
"Of course I can, I understand, I do, I'm sorry."
"I know you've been waiting for us to leave for a long time, I'm sorry we haven't yet, but when the time we'll leave ok?"
"Ok" she said sinking her face into his chest. Then she kissed his chest, and worked her way up to his lips, and stayed there, until he moved his mouth down her neck. She grabbed his hands from behind her back and led him to a back corner of the barn.
"What are you doing?" Mason asked.
"I just want some privacy"
"No one knows we are here." He said.
"It's just more fun ok?"
Evelyn didn't know if things could be any better. She had Mason, he was hers, and she was his, and soon, he would leave Elizabeth and they would run away together, and they whole rest of their lives would be one big never ending adventure, and she was excited about it. This night was not what she had been hoping or expected, that night she not only gave her heart to Mason, but she gave her body as well. He was kind and gentle, and he loved her, and she loved him, and now she felt a bond to him, and she knew more than ever that they were meant to be together.
