oOoOoOo
Day 1
Sunlight filters through my eyelids and I wince. I pull my blanket closer to my body as I groan.
"Dakota, close the curtains."I whine as I roll onto my back, my eyes still closed.
"I apologize for waking you Ms.Covington, but your parents wish to have breakfast with you before you leave for your trip."Dakota, my British housemaid, tells me.
"What time is it?"My voice coming out muffled because of the blanket covering my face.
"The time is currently 8 o'clock, and you should quickly hurry, your mother has a meeting with Mrs. Reynolds soon."She adds before leaving my room.
I pull the blanket off of me and with my eyes still closed, I make my way to my bathroom. I cringe at the reflection in the mirror, my makeup was all smeared and I was still in my clothes from last night.
Oh God, I can't even talk about my hair.
I freshen up and brush my hair making sure it looked good enough.I changed into some more comfortable clothes before heading over to the breakfast room.
My dad was talking to someone on the phone and he gave me a small smile once he saw me.
I gave him a smile back and sat down next to my mom.
"Good morning Mom."I whisper.
My mother beams at me, suddenly realizing that I was there, and her eyes crinkle from smiling at me.
"Good morning sweetie, did you have fun last night at the Trinity Party?"She asks me while I serve myself some eggs and toast.
"Of course, but I'm more excited for the trip to Japan."I say squealing a bit at the end.
My dad finishes his phone call and nods at me as well.
"As long as you're prepared to take over the company once you come back, I have no problem with this trip, unless you need another six months."My Dad's eyes narrow at me and my smile drops into a small frown.
"Dad, I will take over the company at some point in my life, but I just graduated high school, I want to live my life, I want to go to college."
I want to fall in love.
My Dad looks at me, his coffee-brown eyes narrowing in anger.
"You are going to college, you're going to Columbia in the fall. That too all on your own, no help from me just by your smarts, I'm very proud of you for that. However, I don't see the need for you to be adventurous and go rogue."My Dad questions and I slump down in my chair.
I huff and my mom squeezes my hand."Isabella your Dad's just looking out for you, you're our only daughter, we would both be relieved with knowing that you're right in Manhattan."
I discreetly roll my eyes and stand up from the table.
"I understand, but I don't think that you guys understand that I'm only eighteen and I still want to see the world and explore. That doesn't mean that I want to backpack through Europe. I just want to live my life."
Before my parents could both add anything, I walk upstairs to my room and scream into my pillow in frustration.
I do love my parents, they're not like most business people who only see their children as an heir. They do care about me, we always talk at least once a day whether it was on FaceTime or in person.I also was an only child so I was more close to my parents than more children are usually are.
