Chapter five

Impotent

His eyelids were heavy, his limbs were stiff and eyes were focused on one figure. He was standing in a dark room facing a woman in white as she slowly approached him. She was speaking but he couldn't make out what she was saying. He began to panic as his breath was being taken from him. His lungs filled with blood that spurted out of his mouth as he tried to speak. As she approached him his surroundings faded to a forest. A forest of fire and brimstone. Her dress burst into flames and her white dress turns to a blinding black smoke as she looks at him in the eye. It wasn't a woman, but a man. A familiar face, it was the man who killed his mother.

The man pulled out a blade out of his cloak cutting the smoke and violently ran towards Teck. Time seemed to slow down as a woman's voice echoed "You have nothing to fear." At that moment Teck knew this was his own illusion. He smiled a crocked smile and swallowed his blood. He looked up into the crimson sky and closed his eyes. He felt that power once again. The power he lusts for. It burns inside him as he raises his right arm towards the man. He lowers his head and looks at the man running at him. As he watched, the man started rising off the ground. Teck slowly tilted his head, the look on his face was the look of a psycho. The man dropped his sword and as the blade pierced the ground the man started to burn from his feet up to his head. His clothes melted to his skin, his hair gone and his face charred. Teck lowed his arm and the man fell onto the handle of his blade. His charred dead body lays limp on his blade. Teck was left in the middle of the flaming forest, alone once again.

Standing alone in the fire and brimstone he stood. Waiting to wake up. Waiting for something to happen. But nothing. He turns around and realizes he's in the forest of Eden. The apple tree towers over him. The tree burns and the water that he should be standing in has dried up. "What kind of dream is this." He whispers as he approaches the tree. He touches the flaming tree and it's cold. He looked puzzled at what was happening. "Was this real?" He thought as he grabbed his dagger. He placed the dagger on his left hand and sliced it open. Blood poured from the cut and sizzled as it hit the ground.

The scream of a woman pierced his ears causing him to drop the dagger. He knew it was Skyler. But the scream was coming from all directions. In a panic Teck runs deeper into the forest attempting to follow the terrifying screams. "Sky!" He tells out trying to get an answer. A clue of her direction but only her scream is heard. Darting left and right eagerly trying to follow her scream. Not even a trace of her was found. Teck jumped up onto a large boulder to get a better view of his surroundings. Unable to figure out where she was his panic turns to fear, fear turns to uncertainty, uncertainty turns to rage.

"Sky!" He crys out into the empty forest. A calm voice echoed from the left "Teck, I'm here." He ran towards the voice determined to find her. Sprinting across rocks, burning brush, torched twigs and branches, scorched trees and dead burnt animals. A tear runs down his face. "Skyler!" He yells out again but instead of a scream, instead of an answer. Silence. The forest was quiet once more. And he was left in the middle of a burning forest. Unable to get to the one he loves. In anger he grips the handle of his blade and slices a tree in half. The flaming tree falls but no sound. The tree slams into the dirt and rocks creating a blinding smoke that stings Tecks eyes. Alone, blind, and deaf. Teck yells for the last time "Skyler!" With all this power, he's powerless.

He wakes up in a cold sweat as the light seeps through the cloth hung in front of the window beside his bed. His heart pounds as he sits up looking at his hand, it's been scarred. He places his hands on his face and regains his sanity as he runs his fingers through his hair. "This isn't happening." He picks up his chain shirt and pulls it over his head then down to cover his shoulders back and chest. He turns his body and places his feet on the cold wood floor. Teck gets to his feet and walks over to the water bucket. Placing his hands next to the bucked he dunks his head into the cold water then whips his head out covering the mirror with water droplets. In every water droplet he could see his face.
