Chapter two
Helpless
The melody blue jays soothed the minds of everyone within the city of Portus. A warm breeze sweeps across the land lightly brushing the faces of anyone in it's way. The sound of bells soon get the attention of every citizen. Like people under control of hypnosis, everyone floods into the court and finds a seat in the stands, surrounding a rectanglar table at which the four are seated.
The four sat patently side by side waiting for everyone to be seated. A raven screeches signalling it's landing, it dove down close to everyone's head making a select few scared. As the fourth extended his arm in front of him, the raven lands gracefully on his left forearm.
Now with the majority of people seated, the ringing of the bells fad into the sounds of people mumbling.
"What's the deal?" A blacksmith yelled out "if you keep calling these pointless gatherings I'm going to be out of buisness!" The four just ignored him because this was a serious matter.
"Yeah, I have more important things to tend to!" A young man blurred out without thinking of what he was saying.
With the last of the people inside the wooden doors slam shut. Now multiple people yell out in confusion and anger.
The first stands up and yells out to the crowd "everyone, everyone calm down. These meetings are important for us as a community. It benifits you in many ways. But today it's going to be a little different."
An old man yells out from the crowd in a crackly voice "get to the point!"
"If you would let me finish I would!" the first snaps "As I was saying, this is different. Now before I show you this" he gestures to the basket covered with a blanket in front of him. "This can be the death to everyone here." He uncovers the basket revelling a baby.
A woman yell out in confusion "it's just a mere child!"
The first points at her and yells in a battle torn voice "yes! This is just a child to you! But I see what he could be! I see the future of this child's life! A long time ago a similar child was born. We thought the same as everyone of you. We thought he would grow up and be normal. But we were wrong. He grew angry and killed everyone in his path. We lost many warriors in that time."
The first sat down to take a break while the second speaks in a more formal tone "Yes we did lose many. And we will not lose more because of this..... This devil child."
The crowed started roaring "to the pit!"
The second took a while to think of what he was going to say "To the pit you say. Well we could toss this child in the pit and be done with it and go on with our lives as if nothing happened. But we can be civilized about this as well. Not to mention his mother and father. What is to be done of them?"
While the second tryed to convince the citizens to kill the child and his family, the fourth spoke to the first. "Where's the mother? " The first smile and glanced at him "She said she might be a little late." They both laughted deeply.
The third shook her head and spoke silently "we could have handled this better." The fourth nodded his head in agreement.
The first nudged the second inturuping his speech. "I'll take it from here."
The second sat down while the first burst out of his chair. "Now!" He yelled out walking to the front of the table. "This shouldn't be a difficult decision for any of you! Would you risk the life of youself? Your family and kids?"
The crowed eagerly responded "No!"
The first let out a laugh "then this thing must go am I wrong?"
