Preparation

While Jerri and Lilac were busy talking, I managed to sneak out the bathroom and grab my stuff without getting caught and pummeled by Lie.

I might as well take a shower since it will probably be a long time until I could shower again. You know, water conservation and all. The water took away all the dirt from rolling around earlier, alright. But it took away my sleepiness as well. That’s why I hate taking a shower at night.

Once I stepped out the bathroom dressed in my sleeping clothes—a shirt and basketball shorts—I saw that Lilac and Jerri were no longer busy. Within a few seconds after getting out the bathroom, I got hit by a toy arrow on my forehead.

“Very mature, Ride,” I muttered as I pulled of the arrow from my forehead. It had this suction cup thing on the tip, like the ones used to stick stuff onto windshields.

“Says the guy who’s scared of showering,” Lilac smirked and shot another arrow at me. “Come on, we’re discussing plans for tomorrow.”

I plopped down beside them on my sleeping bag—Robynne was fast asleep on the bed so it’s the floor tonight—and stuck the second arrow at Jerri’s forehead. He plucked it off and put it behind him.

“Buzzkill,” Lie and I said at the same time.

“Not the time for games,” he said. “We need to figure out what to do tomorrow.”

“Before we do that,” Lilac began, “I need to find out what you two brought along. Are you sure you packed the right stuff?”

I pulled my backpack closer and started taking out the contents. “Let me see, I got underwear—“

“Dude, you didn’t have to mention that.”

“Whatever, Jerri, and that’s the second time you said ‘dude’ today. Anyway I got clothes, and an extra pair of sneakers.”

“Fair enough,” Lilac commented. “It’s surprising that you managed to fit that in there.”
