Gifted (A Konoha High Fan fic)

Chapter Ten- Gaara

Today was Sunday. Which means NO SCHOOL. Ai walked out her garden, holding a book, deciding to relax in a lounge chair.

She gazed up at the sky before opening up the book.

CHAPTER 1, it read.

Suddenly, a blur shot out from behind her fence and crashed into her. She let out a yelp and held up a wiggling collie puppy in her hands. It's fur was a creamy brown and was striped black. There was a shiny red collar around his neck that says in big black letters,

CHINMI

"Chinmi?" she read. "I must get you back to your owner, little guy."

The puppy licked her face happily. She chuckled and just stood up with the collie puppy in her arms.

"Oh, I see you've got my puppy."

She yelped again and jumped as something red and grey flashed, causing her to trip over her chair. Shutting her eyes close, she waited for the impact. But an arm reached out and wrapped around her waist. Opening her eyes, she found teal ones staring back into her's.

"O-Oh, h-hi." she stuttered and blushed at their closenese.

"I assume you're my neighbor."

He has fair skin and short, spiky, red hair with teal eyes. He has no distinctive pupils or eyebrows. He has two very notable traits in his appearance: firstly, he has tanuki-like black eye rings, having them since his birth. Secondly, he carved the kanji "love" (ai) on the left side of his forehead. His forelocks are parted from the left side, making the kanji more visible.

Ai felt weird seeing her name on his forehead.

"Y-Yes, I'm Ai Yokoshimana."

"Gaara. Gaara Sabaku." he picked his puppy up. "Chinmi always get excited seeing new people."

Ai smiled. "He's very cute."

So is he...what did I just say...?

"W-Would you like to stay?" she asked shyly.

Gaara thought about it. "Sure, I can use a day without my siblings."

Ai led him into her house. Gaara set Chinmi down, who tackled Ai at once. Ai giggled. Gaara's lips twitched.

"I think he likes you..."

She laughed. "Thank you. C'mon."

Gaara sat on the couch while Ai went into the kitchen to make some tea. His teal eyes observed her living room. The floor, the table, and the faded pictures.

"Hope you like tea." she smiled and set the tray down. Gaara nodded.

"Thank you."

Silence.

"S-So, Gaara....which school do you go to?"

"Konoha High." he answered.

"R-Really?" she brightened. "I-I'm in that school t-too."

"Hmm, I didn't know..."

"Do you have a boyfriend?" he asked monotonously as if this subject didn't bother him the slightest bit.

"N-No." Ai blushed. "Boys don't find me...attractive..."

Gaara set down his cup and walked to the door. He placed his hand on the knob.

"Then they must be blind."
