Chapter Thirty Three - Disastor Dinner

  "The Konoha champions had won the first round of the Shinobi Games! The second round will be held next week Monday! Before we get to that, we have something to take care of."

  Utsubyo Kagayaite sheepishly stood beside Odoroita, trying not to look at her team. Odoroita hauled her forward and in a booming voice, he said,

  "Utsubyo Kagayaite had failed the first round and will no longer be participating in the Shinobi Games! Luckily, we have a backup!"

  Utsubyo scuttled off to her seat, face bright red as she ate her dinner discreetly.

  "We shall announce the backup champion after dinner!" Odoroita said and sat down to his meal. Chatter brew up and Utsubyo's teammates comforted her and said they weren't mad, even when they were

  Ai turned to her friends with a bright smile.

  "Congratulations, guys! You all did great!"

  Sakura giggled and poked her roast potatoes with her fork. "Aren't you Odoroita's student?"

  Ai blushed and snuck a peek at Odoroita who was actually glaring at her from the incident at the sparring court. Cheeks still pink, she returned to her soup and sipped.

  "I wish you are in the Shinobi Games!" Naruto said with a pout. Sasuke rolled his eyes.

  "What? There is no way I'm entering the live-and-death games!" Ai exclaimed and clamped her mouth shut with her hands when she noticed that she was too loud. "You're crazy, Naruto."

  "I wouldn't want her to be in the Shinobi Games," Gaara said coolly and slung his arm around her shoulders. "It's too dangerous."

  Ai turned red and Sakura flicked a pea at her, laughing. Ai looked around the large dining hall and frowned. Hyo barely hung around her because of Sakura.

  Boy would she do anything to know their past that probably concerns with Sasuke.

  "Soooo, he is your boyfriend," Yorie said.

  Ai stared at her, wide eyed, giving her the signal to hush because of that boyfriend was sitting right next to her. But Yorie didn't get the message. Neither did Sonoe. Or Ro. Or Eken.

  "Dammit," Ro said, pretending to look tearful. "I thought he'd never show up."

  Ai kicked him under the table and he yowled in pain. Sakura looked at her with round eyes and she shrugged in response.

  "Where's Hyo anyway?" Eken asked suddenly and everyone went quiet. Sasuke looked at him in surprise.

  "Hyo?"

  Ai bit her lip as Sakura glanced at Sasuke and then at her dinner plate. Why, oh, why did Eken bring the subject of Hyo up with Sakura and Sasuke around?

  But apparently, the two weren't the only people who knew Hyo. Naruto stared at Eken and his eyes lit up.

  "Hyo is here?" Naruto asked excitedly. "Where is she?"

  "We dunno," Sonoe shrugged. "Probably in the room Ai and she shares."

  Dang it!

  "You're her roomnate?" Naruto questioned Ai. "I want to see her!"

  "Um, Ai?" Sakura suddenly said. "Can I have a word with you in private?"

  They wound up in the garden.
